Evie woke up again, in the same place, probably around the same time, the exact same way that she did every single day. She turned her head slowly to look at Marilyn. He was still laying silently beside her. She sighed and closed her eyes again but nearly jumped out of the bed when a deep scratchy voice sounded beside her.
"His name was Jeordie." Marilyn whispered, his eyes still closed.
"Oh thank God... oh Marilyn I thought you were gone!" Evie cried, pressing her face against his, her hands on his cheeks. She kissed his forehead and leaned back, letting him finish his story. She knew he was talking about his friend.
His friend whose full name was Jeordie White was part of the gang that Marilyn was involved in too but wanted to leave it and become a band with Brian but the other members of the gang beat him like a dog until finally Brian took him and they ran. They completely changed their identity and scoured the country and then the world never really living anywhere. Just traveling.
Evie gently kissed his lips to make him stop talking. She knew it was taking every ounce of strength he had to tell her the story. "It's okay baby you don't have to tell me right now." Evie whispered, moving his hair out of his eyes. She saw a tear run down his face and wiped it away quickly before she started to cry again. She knew he was still suffering over the loss of his friend.
                 "I need blood Evie."
"I know you do but I can't go back. Not now. At least not yet. Can you please just drink water for now?" She begged.
"I need blood." Evie sighed and stood up slowly. She was still incredibly sore and felt awful. She wanted a hot cup of coffee and a shower worse then anything. Seeing his still swollen face and his smeared makeup made her even more sad.
"I'm going to try okay. I've been through a lot while you were out." She said quietly. A job of burying sixteen bodies and cleaning up every trace of blood would have normally taken her a week and she'd done it in two days. She knew she still had ten bodies to go but they would have to wait. "I have to bury the rest of the bodies and then I'll find someone. Can you wait a day or two?" Evie asked already feeling exhausted.
"I'll help you." He said trying to sit up, but falling back down onto the bed.
"No don't move!" Evie said, carefully helping him lay down. "I can handle it. I'll do it fast, you need to rest you almost died." She was surprised when he didn't even fight her and just laid back down looking at her face. I'll go home today and try to find someone for you but if my mom sees me she's going to force me to stay. And also they probably closed the shop there's probably no one there to get." Evie sighed as she slowly walked outside into the cold air. Dark clouds covered the sky as usual as she walked down the road and to the barn. She decided to hide in the barn and watch for someone to come close without having to go out into the open where her mom might see her.
Once in the barn Evie sighed as it started sleeting, giving her chills through her thin jacket. She felt sick when she realized no one was at the shop and the gates were closed meaning her parents were probably going to keep it closed for a while. After a while she made her way back to the cave.
"Marilyn I'm sorry but the shop is closed. I don't know what to do." She said as she walked back into the cave. She saw him still laying on the bed, his eyes closed. Sitting down beside him she sighed, "I'm sorry Marilyn I'm completely at a loss. I don't know what to do anymore." Evie said, putting her face in her hands. "It's all over. We cant keep doing this." She cried.
"Evie, look at me." Marilyn said quietly. She looked at him through blurred eyes as more tears ran down her cheeks. "Don't give up on me. Not now." He said. Evie gently laid her hand on his cheek looking at him lovingly. She never wanted anything to happen to him but it was going to happen soon if she didn't come up with something. "I have to tell you the rest of my story." He said, his voice deep as usual. Evie knew he trusted her so she sat quietly through the rest of his story.
He got so deep into the gang that there was barely any turning back. He decided he wanted another try at singing but the law was after him and the other members of the gang wouldn't hear of him leaving after pledging to their rules and becoming one with them. "I liked to kill, there's a sort of... Rush. You're adrenaline gives you a type of high that nothing else can." He told her.
She shivered at the thought. She couldn't bare the thought of killing anyone else. She had already practically killed more people than most murderers. But seeing him happy made her happy. Maybe that was how it got started. She was slowly turning into him. His happiness was like her drug. She rubbed the goose bumps away and looked at him as he continued. That was when they changed their names to Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez. The law couldn't possibly find them now.
They were on another trip when they found the cave in the woods behind Evie's farm. It was the perfect place to hide out for a while and to keep their craving to kill low. Brian, now Marilyn, had gotten married at one point but his wife left him, unable to cope with his lifestyle. This changed him too, making him more bitter and alone. All he had was his friend who spoke only to him. They actually hadn't been there long. When Evie stumbled upon it he knew she would be perfect for him. Evie felt like he kind of let it slip that he was fond of her.
He looked at her after he finished his story like he was searching for a reaction. Evie laid down beside him resting her head on his chest. She didn't say a word but she knew that he knew that none of it mattered to her. Not anymore. She realized there was no such thing as vampires or other mythical creatures. Just people who are hurt to the extent of breaking. Of losing everything that made them who they were. There was one thing that Evie knew for sure was real. Love.
