This chapter will have some very explicit sexual scenes so just making sure you know before you read!
* * *Evie leapt awake at the sound of a crash. She sat up groggily rubbing the sleep from her eyes as another crash sounded. What was going on now? She didn't see Marilyn but she heard a heart wrenching scream from within the cave and knew it was him. She saw his friend still by the fire as usual. Slowly climbing out of bed, wrapping one of the furs around her as she started towards the fire to check on his friend as the crashing noises continued. She felt frightened. What if the woman had done something? She didn't want to be in the middle of it.
It was still dark outside and the fire was the only source of light. Evie could still hear rain pouring down outside and inside the cave it was cold. She couldn't tell if his friend was still breathing as she moved closer and squinted to see if she could find the rise and fall of his chest. Her hand rose to her mouth when she realized he wasn't breathing. He was gone. "Oh no... Please no..." She whispered feeling for a pulse. There was none. "Oh God say this isn't true!" She said quietly. She stiffened when she heard a sound from behind her. She slowly stood up and turned around.
Marilyn stood behind her. His eyes were red and puffy from crying and his make up was in black streaks down his face. Evie held back a whimper of anguish. She knew that he knew about his friend. He was probably with him when he died. She just kept looking at him standing there, his arms hanging in defeat. "I am so so sorry Marilyn..." She said, letting a few tears fall. She couldn't believe she had any tears left after all she'd been through.
"He's gone... He's dead." He said, his voice broke making Evie cry even more. She stepped forward holding her arms out to him. He grabbed her wrist roughly and started dragging her towards the furs.
"What are you doing?!" Evie choked out as he pushed her down.
"You deserve this for letting him die." He said, glaring at her as he began taking his clothes off. Evie didn't understand why he was taking it out on her. There was nothing they could've done for him. "Take them off." He said. Evie just sat there holding the fur around her tightly. "Evie I swear I'll kill you..." His voice was menacing and Evie knew he was being serious. She let the fur fall from around her shoulders and started taking her clothes off too.
The cold air in the cave gave her chills as she stood there unsure of what to do. She realized she was actually terrified as he looked her body over hungrily. Turning her around he pressed her down against the furs and entered her from behind. Evie gasped at the pain. She'd never done it before and was terrified. "Marilyn stop-" she started to say but he reached forward, putting his hand over her mouth. Tears sprang to her eyes with each thrust but the pain started to fade and Evie started to move her body with his momentum.
His groans of pleasure made her skin prickle with chills and she couldn't help but let a small moan escape her lips. Was this rape? She didn't even know, she found herself actually beginning to like it. His hand slid down until he was grasping her throat. His moaning got louder as he pressed down onto Evie's back, his hot breath in her hair making her smile a little as he grabbed her hair in his teeth. His thrusts got faster until he was finished and collapsed on top of Evie. She was afraid he would get up and move on like nothing happened and she didn't want him to go but he just laid his head on Evie's chest once she turned to face him. She didn't want to mention his friend. She didn't want to mention anything as she held him on her chest. She just wanted to be there for him. She gently brushed his sweaty hair out of his eyes and kissed his forehead.
They stayed like that for a while, Evie softly stroking his bare back as his breathing finally slowed. "We have to bury him." He croaked. Evie knew he'd been crying. He stood up, putting his clothes back on and even helping Evie back into her clothes as well. She walked with him as he carefully picked up his friend from beside the fire and made his way outside.
The rain had stopped and only a gray drizzle filled the damp, cold air. She felt like they'd been walking forever when they finally came upon a clearing in the trees. The grass was extra green and lush and a clear stream ran through it. Wild flowers covered the ground, their sweet smell filling the air. Evie felt emotional that he would pick such a beautiful soft spot to bury his friend as she gathered a bunch of purple flowers and stood silently as Marilyn began digging the grave. As each shovelful was thrown aside Evie began to think about how things had changed for her. How everything in her life was so different now. Would her parents even love her anymore?
She pushed those thought aside and Marilyn gently lowered his friend into the grave after kissing his face softly. Evie forced herself to be strong for him. "I called him Twiggy." Marilyn said quietly, still looking at his body in the grave. "Bye bye blackbird." He whispered as he began shoveling the dirt into the grave. Evie recognized those words from her favorite hitman movie, "Public Enemies" and her eyes again filled with tears. They really went through it together, she thought to herself. She knew they had been through so much and that Marilyn had lost more then a friend he'd lost a brother.
Evie laid the flowers gently on top of the grave and placed her hand on the dirt for a moment before standing up and taking Marilyn's hand. The clouds broke open, unleashing their sadness on them as they started back for the cave.* * *
