Evie kept her eyes closed. She didn't know how long she'd been asleep but she knew it was morning. The sun filtered in through the cracks in between the rock walls and through her closed eye lids. She was so weak. Still she could barely move. She opened them slightly, blinded by a few of the Suns rays. Her breath caught when she saw the sight before her. Blood. Everywhere. What happened? She wondered. Something had gone down while she was passed out. She turned her head as much as her strength would allow and saw Marilyn. At least he was still alive. He was covered in blood too. It looked like he was wounded. Evie wanted to sit up and help him but she couldn't. "Good morning Evie." He growled as he cleaned a wound on his side.
"G-good morning." She croaked. Her throat was dry and she realized she'd never been so thirsty in her life. "Are you okay?" Evie asked quietly. He didn't respond, just kept cleaning the shot on his side. "What happened?" She whispered, her heart speeding up at the sight of the battle that had taken place.
"You probably have a million questions don't you?" He sneered. She just let her eyes fall on the fire that still smoldered a little. "You'd probably like to know what I am." He said quieter. She sure did, that's what she wanted to know since she first saw him. But surely he wasn't gonna give it all out that easily. "I'll tell you. Everything. But you have to do something for me in return." There it is, she thought. Of course she'd have to do something in return. "Well... First of all... I'm not any kind of mythical creature." He said deeply. Evie's eyes widened. He had to be! "I'm a human just like you are. Just like everyone else." He said. Evie couldn't believe it. But then again she knew it was stupid to believe in vampires. "That's all I have to say to you until you bring me fresh blood." He glared at her.
Of all the things she could do in return, why did that have to be one of them. "You're so weak that standing up would probably kill you now but when you're well that's exactly what you're gonna do." She closed her eyes. She promised herself she would never kill anyone again but she wanted more then anything to hear his story. To learn more about him. He brought her a glass much to her excitement. She tipped it to take a drink but realized it was blood. She jumped, pushing the glass away. "If you wanna be with me you need to learn to be like me." He grumbled. She was so thirsty but she knew she'd throw up if she tried to drink it. He roughly reached up, tipping her head back with his thumb and tilting the glass to her mouth. She tried not to gag as the blood went into her mouth. She found that it wasn't as bad as she thought although it was definitely not something she would do regularly.
She took the cup a drank it herself hoping it would make him happy. He didn't have much of a reaction. "I think that deserves another piece of your story." She said, wiping her mouth on her sleeve. He ignored her comment. "Did you get hurt?" She asked, reaching with her newfound strength and lifting his leather vest up a little to see the wound. She could tell he was a little uncomfortable but he let her do it anyways. What had happened while she was unconscious? He had only been injured in one place so at least it wasn't too bad. Evie's fingers lightly grazed over the wound. She wondered if he would ever tell her what happened. "Where's your friend?" She asked, wondering if she'd been dreaming all of that. He pointed out and Evie saw his huddled form in the safe darkness of the cave. "What's his name? Is he like you?" Evie asked.
"I told you what you have to do to get me to answer that." He said. Evie sighed. This was gonna be hard but for now she had to rest. She leaned back, closing her eyes. She was already exhausted. "You might not make it next time." She heard Marilyn say as he began cleaning up some of the blood from the cave walls and floor. Evie wondered what happened so much it hurt but first she was gonna have to do what he wanted. She finally fell into a deep sleep.

Upon opening her eyes, Evie felt a little better but she was so hungry she could hear her stomach practically shrieking for food. "Marilyn?" She croaked, her voice unaccustomed to going so long without talking. The strange person from yesterday scampered to Evie's side, moving close to her. "Hey..." She whispered. He just looked at her with those big brown eyes. "What's you're name?" She asked but he only continued staring. The sound of a branch snapping made him run back into the dark recesses of the cave. Evie looked towards the cave entrance and saw Marilyn there watching her.
"He must like you." He said, no emotion showing at all on his elegant face. "He won't go near anyone but me." Evie smiled and laid back, feeling dizzy. He walked over, tossing some kind of cooked meat on the furs beside her. She snatched it up, digging in. It was delicious! "Are you feeling better?" He asked. Evie's heart warned at his caring question but the feeling went away at his next words.
"I do." She said through a mouthful of food.
"Good. You'll be ready for the next part of my story. And to bring me someone new." Evie put the food down suddenly feeling full. Why did he need blood if he wasn't even a vampire?
"I guess so." Evie whispered. "Why do you need blood?" She asked.
"Why do you keep asking questions?" He asked, glaring at her like a hungry wolf. She looked down at her pale hands. Her thoughts suddenly shifted to her parents. What must they think she's doing in the woods when there's some murderer roaming about. She needed to get well and soon. She had more then explaining to do and she had to keep her mom and everyone else off of Marilyn's trail.
