"Marco, I'm breaking up with you,"

I covered my girlfriend's eyes with my hands. I could feel the edge of her smile on my finger tips, and from the way her cheek moved.

"Hey babe," Violetta Castillo murmurs.

She turns around and presses a soft kiss on my lips. We were at the ice rink, with our best friends Leon and Camila. We intertwine our fingers, and join the other couple who were getting the ice skates.

"You promise you won't let go," Camila asks, holding the skates away from Leon's hands. Leon laughs as he nods. She reluctantly hands it to him.

"At least you've gotten the hang of it now," I say to Violetta and she nods excitedly.

I had taught Violetta how to skate over a span of around sixteen hours. The first time Violetta made both herself and myself fall, because of how tightly she was clinging onto me. But the last time, she had managed to go to the middle without any help from me —until she did the splits five seconds later.

I help her put on her skates and she sends me a grateful smile. Her smile sent the butterflies in my stomach off. We joined hands -after I put mine on- and stepped foot on the ice.

It took us a few short moments to regain our balance, holding on to the wall for help. Violetta fell forward, and I managed to grab her hand at the last moment. Instead of screaming like she did many times before, she burst out laughing.

"Thank you Superman!" Violetta salutes, and I wrinkle my nose.

"Ew! Superman is a poop," I stick my tongue out and she laughs louder, earning few concerned stares.

"Well then my love, you're a poop," Violetta winks.  I noticed that I was still holding onto her hand.

I pushed her forward, and this time she let out a yelp. She scrambled, and hugged my waist breathing heavily. She blows a few stray strands of her blonde hair out of her face as she glares at  me, hitting my chest repeatedly.

In an attempt to make her stop, I used my hand -not holding the wall- to grab her face and press her lips to mine. But due to how distracting her lips were, I lost my hold on the wall and I fell, my back sliding against the wall.

I fell flat on my butt, and Violetta laughed again, her laugh the loudest noise in the busy rink. She was the lucky one who fell on top of me. We stayed like that for a few seconds before I was to get the hell up.

We were there for another two hours, before we decided to call it a day. Violetta's nose was red, and so were her cheeks. She rubbed her hands trying to create friction for some warmth. I wrapped my arm around her as we walked out the ice rink following Leon and Camila.

"I had fun today," I tell her.

"Yeah. It reminded me of my first time, except you fell on your ass this time!" Violetta says, poking my chest.

"Ha ha," I say sarcastically, rolling my eyes at her.

"Don't be a bum," Violetta grins, and I couldn't help a smile small appearing on my face.

Violetta's grin was contagious, to me, it was like unlike any other grin. She rests her head on my arm, her head not reaching my shoulder. Violetta wasn't the tallest person, and today she wore flats.

"Yo! Camila slow down!" I whine, ad the two ahead of us come to a halt.

"Oh sorry, we were just excited to go to that new ice cream shop. I think it's SLAAMN I believe?" Leon says, sending a questioning look to his girlfriend. She nods.

"Oh right! Apparently they have the best rainbow flavoured!" I say in realisation.

"You three are idiots," Violetta laughs shaking her head.

"Hmm, why?" Camila asks curiously, not a hint of defence in her voice.

"You guys are getting so excited over ice cream! It's nothing really," Violetta explains, and Camila and Leon gasp melodramatically.

To Camila and Leon ice cream was their life. They had ice cream all the time, even in winter. Quite often they'd get sick from eating too much ice cream. Violetta would laugh in their faces when it happened.

"I told you so!" Violetta would say in a teasing voice. Camila and Leon would either sniff or cough.

"Oh shut up mother," Leon would say pouting.

"Violetta my dear. Ice cream is the reason we live. It is life. To be honest, I don't even know why you're our friend!" Camila scoffs, and Violetta giggles.

"And you?" She asks me.

"Whatever you want," I say, and she smiles adoringly.

When we get there, we go straight to the cashier. She gives us a welcoming smile, and adjusts her hat quickly before greeting us.

"Good afternoon! I am Sammia and I will be your server," Sammia smiles.

"Hi! We'll have four cones, each with two scoops of rainbow ice cream," Leon orders, and she nods.

"Thank you, you can wait to the side," She instructs.

We spent the next few minutes explaining to Violetta the importance of ice cream in our lives. Violetta just rolled her eyes throughout the speech. I dip my finger into the ice cream and swipe it across Violetta's cheek. She removes it with her finger, and wipes it on a serviette.

"I'm not going to embarrass myself," Violetta says firmly. I nod, grinning widely at her.

"I love you,"

"I love you too,"

That was just yesterday. And today, here she stood in my bedroom breaking up with me. I didn't understand it, we were doing great yesterday and today she wanted to end it?

"Why?" I ask in a soft broken voice.

"I just, I just don't feel it. I'm sorry Marco." She leans over and kisses my cheek.

She walks out, casting one more glance in my direction at the door. When the door shut, I buried my face in my hands, a few tears running down my face.

She broke up with me.

What happened to yesterday?
