"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" ~ Isaiah 41:10

"Lucy, can you please tell me what the fuck happened to Sarah?" my mom yelled.

Well, I guess it is true that after passing out; the first sense to come back is hearing.

I could hear a slight hum coming from beneath me and then I felt soft cushions mesh with my body. I slowly inched my fingers and heard the soft cotton purr to my touch. I felt something block my feet from making my legs fully straight. I felt leather straps on my knees and chest as I tried to squirm around. I quickly stopped squirming as I realized I was in the car (most likely with my family) and not with the damned Rowans.

"Mom, I don't know what happened. She just passed out" I heard Lucy lie.

"Don't give me that bullshit, Lucy" my mom sternly stated.

"Honey, let's calm down. Sarah's alright" my dad said, trying (but failing) to calm my mom.

I knew it wasn't working because I could hear someone's hard breathing from where I was.

"No, the fuck she's not! Did you see her hand?" my mom questioned.

"Yes, I did. But Pastor Abraham said that she was in the restaurant. She could've gotten burned there" my dad answered.

How did Abraham know I was in the restaurant with Ethan?

How the fuck did he knew I was burned?

I couldn't help but start squirming again when my right hand started to fade away with the numbness, and rolled in with tsunamic waves of pain.

My grunting seemed to stop the conversation in the car completely.

"Sarah? Sarah, are you alright?" I saw Lucy lean over the seats to peer down at me in the back seats with worry in her eyes.

I tried to sit up, but the leather seatbelt kept my chest plastered to the car cushions. I tried to move my right hand (out of pure habit) but soonly regretted it as thunderous pain registered in my mind and flashed across my hand. I let out a whimper and looked at it.

I expected to see charred flesh that dangled off my skin like the meat flaps off of a grandma; but saw nothing of the sort. I saw white gauze taped around my hand multiple times but crimson shone bright where my palm was. My whole hand looked like it was sun burnt and looked completely out of place.

Damn; Jason did a number on me.

I looked to Lucy and she slightly shook her head, as she mouthed the words, "We'll talk about this when we get home"

I nodded my head because I was too weak to protest.

"How is she Lucy?" my mom asked. I couldn't see her behind the seats in the van; but I could hear her terrified voice, loud and clear.

"She's in pain, mom"

"Don't you worry Sarah! I'll make you forget all about the pain!" my mom's voice increased in volume.

I nodded and saw Lucy's face scrunch up in an emotion I couldn't name. I was just about to try and say something; when my eyelids got droopy. I tried blinking them, trying anything to get them to stay awake, but they kept falling.

Once they shut completely, I was out like a light.

~~~
"Come on Sarah. It's time to go" I heard someone touch my right ankle and attempt to shake me awake.
