I awoke in a daze, lifting my face off of the desk I apparently feel asleep on last night. It took me a moment to remember what exactly I was doing last night, but once I stopped being an idiot, my eyes darted to the computer screen as I hastily re-opened PesterChum.

When I saw that John hadn't responded since our conversation from last night, my breathing quickened and my thoughts started racing along with my heart.  Without fully processing what I was doing, I rather loudly ran out of our apartment and all the way to John's house.

"Maybe John just forgot to message me back?"
   "Maybe he just fell asleep?"
"Maybe his internet went down before he could message me?"
"He's got to be perfectly fine"
   "Right?"

My thoughts were clouded with my mind trying to conjure up possible explanations to why John hadn't messaged me, but my anxiousness only grew larger by the second. Unable to think clearly and sensibly, my mind immediately thought of all of the worst case scenarios.

My lungs were burning by the time I reached my boyfriend's house, my heart was pounding and my mind was racing just as fast if not faster. Not wanting to waste much more time, I raised my hand to the wooden door and started knocking and at a faster tempo than most of my dope tracks.

I stood there panting, trying to catch my breath before someone opened the door.  It was someone I didn't recognize, but her face looked just as distraught as mine did, maybe even more.  Our eyes locked and the other girl's face relaxed for a split-second, but then she must have thought of something that made her panic more than she was before she opened the door.

"Well if you're here, I'm guessing that you haven't seen or heard from him either?"  The girl questioned to confirm her thoughts.  Well shit, I guess we're both equally fucked.  There go the simple scenarios,   now we gotta go all detective mode.

"Yeah, I was kinda hoping that one of y'all knew where he was,"  I explained, confirming her thoughts.  Catching my breath, the girl reached her hand out to me.

"Well, I guess Mission: Find John is a go, I'm Jane, by the way,  John's half-sister.  I'm going to assume that you're the infamous Dave he keeps telling me about."  I smiled at the thought of John talking to his family about me, wondering about what he had said and what kind of person his family thought I was from his ramblings.  While it was nice to be lost in thought for a moment, ignoring the rest of my screaming mind, I reconnected to reality and the truth of the situation in front of us.  John is missing, but where is he?

I think back to last night before I fell asleep.  John had gone to the school to meet with Spidershit to put our plan into action, having Vriska think we broke up, but something else happened.

"John went to the school last night, I know that much.  Maybe we can get into the security cameras and see if we can find anything?" I suggested, the idea seeming like a valid starting point.  Jane agreed with the plan, calling one of her friends that was relatively good with computers and the such to help us get to the actual footage.  He would meet us at the school, so we left to meet whoever this guy was and get some clues if there were any left.

We managed to make a bit of small talk on our walk to the school, but there was a looming presence of urgency between us, adding a small bit of tension in the air.  It was only us when we got there, so we waited around for Jane's friend to come.  I decided to use the time wisely and check for any places we could easily get into the building and the office.  During my search, I guess Jane's friend decided to show up so we could finally get some actual answers.  What I wasn't expecting is that this specific friend just happened to be Dirk, because why fucking wouldn't it be.

After maybe illegally breaking into the school, we made our way to where we would be able to see the CCTV footage.  Of course, knowing my luck and seeing as it is Vriska out of all people that we're dealing with, they probably conveniently went to the one location that doesn't have cameras.  While Dirk hacked into the system, he and Jane talked while I  stood there being mostly useless at the moment.  We didn't have any other clues we could look for, so we were at a dead lead until, or if, Dirk find anything from the security system.

Dirk got into the system and skipped to the time where John got to the front of the school.  We watched him follow Vriska to the back by the loading dock and trash bins.  Thankfully, luck seemed to be on my side, and there was a camera that we could clearly see their interaction from, but the darkness hindered our vision semi-significantly.  I could make out the figures of the two, as well as two that seemed to join them.  They seemed quite a bit older, definitely not high school age, possibly even over usual college age.  Not long after the other two showed up, Vriska just up and left, leaving John cornered by the older two.  A few moments passed, and the two left to who the hell knows where with John thrown one of their shoulders.

Without hesitation, I bolted out to the back.  Running down the music hall and bursting through the custodial office doors to get to the loading dock.  Jumping over the railing, I landed where John and Vriska had met the night before.  There was a sense of dread and doom in the air and a bit of blood left on the wall and floor directly below.  The door from inside opened, Jane and Dirk coming over to meet me.  We all made eye contact, and without words, we all agreed to one thing...

We were going to find where they took John and these assholes are going to pay...

Wow updating is a thing that still exists, who would've thought

Seriously though, sorry for my absence, if I'm being honest, I don't feel the same drive to write this story anymore, I've just kind of lost interest.  I will, however, still continue it to the ends for all of you, I feel like I owe you that much.  While I may not entirely like this story, it's come a long way since I started.

I can't make any promises on how soon updates will come, but I can tell you that the end is coming soon and that I can't wait to see your reactions to it.

I hope this chapter suffices, be sure to comment your thoughts, I love to read what you have to say,  even if I don't reply :D

Thank you for getting this story to 20K reads, that's crazy.  Also, thank you to the comment chain from last chapter (You know who you are) for leaving like, 600 comments, my notifications were thoroughly dead.
