Dan's POV:
So Christmas and the New Year had come and gone, and we were now nearing February. I had bought Ivy a puppy for Christmas. A pug who she called Gryphon. Her latest obsession had been watching Tobuscus videos all day long. Seeing as she was now quite heavily pregnant, she had lost motivation to do a lot of things, and was really not feeling herself. We decided to hold off on planning any wedding things until later on in the year. We wanted to get used to being parents and get through the first few months of that before planning something as stressful as a wedding.
All was good between myself and Ivy, but something had gotten into Phil, and I didn't really see him much anymore. Since him and Leah had gotten serious, it's like he forgot he even had friends. He spends all his time with her, and he has even been slacking with uploading videos, which isn't like him at all. I decided it was time to confront him and tell him that I was worried about him.
"Ivy, i'm just going to pop over to see Phil for a bit. Do you need anything whilst I'm out?" Ivy was lounged out on the sofa watching TV with Gryphon curled up on her lap. "Umm, could you get me some more prawn crackers please? We've ran out." I looked at her with a shocked expression on my face but couldn't help laughing. "I bought you 3 bags yesterday, don't tell me you ate them all?" Ivy picked up Gryphon and held him in front of her face to hide her embarrassment. "Sorry.." she mumbled into his fur. I made my way over to her and kissed her forehead before heading out the front door. "Don't worry, i'll be sure to get extra this time." I laughed and got into my car and began the drive to Phil's. I was worried about speaking to him, and I couldn't work out why. Phil was my closest friend in the whole universe, why was I so nervous about confronting him?
Ivy's POV:
I turned off the TV and set Gryphon on the floor. I was starving hungry so decided to go and find something to eat. Mind you, I shouldn't be hungry considering the amount of food I had been eating lately. I definitely had a very greedy baby inside of me! I headed into the kitchen leaving Gryphon sprawled out on the floor. I opened the fridge and looked for something nice.. nothing. I then checked the cupboards.. nothing. Wow. I really needed to do some shopping, but I had become so lazy lately. I looked down at my big belly and placed my hands on the side to feel the baby kicking like crazy! "Okay, I get it, you're hungry. How about mummy go and get some food?" I headed into the hallway and put on my vans. I looked like a bit of a tramp, with my leggings and my long sleeved top with my hair in a messy bun, but I really could not be bothered making an effort for a trip to the supermarket. I leant up to get my coat and then looked over at Gryphon sitting up looking right at me. "Guess I should let you out before I go hey?". He quickly got up and waddled over to the back door waiting patiently for me to let him out. I strolled over to the door and opened it, letting the little guy go and do his business. I closed the door behind me and stood in the garden enjoying the fresh air. it was rather cold out, but it was nice to feel the icy breeze touch my skin, after staying inside for so long. I pulled out my phone and began to browse my emails whilst waiting for Gryphon to hurry up. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach, causing me to drop my phone on the ground.
I thought maybe the baby was just kicking harder, but then I realised something wasn't right. The pain was agonising, so much so that I ended up on my knees, unable to stand anymore. I didn't even have it in me to call out for help. I fell to the ground, laying completely on my back now, tears streaming down my face. What was happening to me. I picked my phone up off the ground and frantically dialled Dan's number. It began to ring, and ring, and ring before going to voicemail. Why was he not answering me? I quickly managed to type out a message to send him:
"Dan, call me please, something's not right with the baby. Please get home now or something!xx"
I just managed to press the send button before everything went black..
Dan's POV:
I was close to Phil's apartment when I heard my phone ringing. The phone was in the glove box and I couldn't get to it whilst driving. "Probably Ivy asking me to hurry up with the prawn crackers". I laughed to myself before pulling up outside Phil's. After walking up the many flights of stairs, as the lift was broken I reached the apartment and knocked on the door. After standing at the door for what seemed like forever with no one answering I decided to give Phil a call to see where he was. I reached for my phone in my pocket before realising I had left it in the car. "Shit" I mumbled before heading back down the stairs. I eventually reached the car and unlocked the door before getting in and reaching for the glove box. I first saw the missed call from Ivy and decided I would call her back after I called Phil. I then noticed I had a text message. I opened the message and instantly began to panic. I had to read the message over and over again to confirm that what I was reading was really right. I quickly put on my seatbelt and started the engine before speeding off down the road. I dialled Ivy's number and put the phone to my ear whilst driving further and further towards our house. No answer. I then tried ringing the house phone. Still, no answer. I tried not to panic, and think positively. Maybe she is just in the bathroom or something.. yeah maybe she felt sick, maybe that's what the text meant..
I eventually pulled up outside our house and quickly exited the car and headed towards the front door. I pulled my keys from my pocket and unlocked the door before heading inside. I could hear Gryphon barking and it sounded like it was coming from the garden. Maybe he was with her? I ran through the hallway and came to the back door and pushed it open. I was met with my worst fear. Ivy was laying on the floor, unconscious with Gryphon laying with his head on her shoulder. I quickly leant down and shook her shoulders. Nothing. Memories came flooding back from that night, when Ivy had tried to end her life. Without thinking I rolled up her sleeves, but found nothing there. What an idiot. Why would I even think that she would have done that to herself now. I shook my head disappointed in myself for even thinking that. I felt Ivy's neck and was relieved when I felt a pulse. A weak one, but she was alive. I could feel how cold she was, and I could see her lips were turning blue, so I picked her up in my arms and carried her inside, laying her on the sofa. I pulled out my phone and dialled 999. "Yeah , I need an ambulance. My girlfriend is 7 months pregnant, and I came home and found her unconscious outside. Please I need you here now." I could barely get my words out. The operator was giving me instructions on what to do. I tried my best to keep calm but I ended up on my knees crying my eyes out holding my girlfriends limp hand in my own. Not only was I facing losing my girlfriend, but also my child. I hung up the phone when I heard the sirens outside my house. I leapt up and opened the front door, rushing back to Ivy's side and grabbing her hand once again. "Please be okay Ivy, please don't do this to me.."
