"Come on, you can do it."
I urged Erik on as he struggled to stand. He was shakily rising from the bed that had been his only residing area for the last three weeks. He had been recovering well as the doctor said, so he decided it was time for Erik to get up and walk. "I can't!". Erik growled, frustrated. I was supporting his left side, and the doctor his right. I sighed and clutched his arm tighter. "Yes you can. Just keep trying!" I encouraged.
Suddenly he straightened out his legs and stood up straight, not entirely on his own but still...It was a start.

I slowly walked Erik's breakfast tray up the stairs and into the dark bedroom. He was sitting up in bed, staring at the door expectantly. "Did you get lost, Christine?" He asked, annoyed. I rolled my eyes and sighed. Ever since he had recovered he had been acting very rude. "No, Erik. Though, I did have to scold the servants for making your coffee wrong." I snapped.
I sat the tray filled with apples and other fruits in Erik's lap. He nodded a thank you and gestured for me to sit next to him in the wooden chair. I did so, letting my blue gown poof around me. "Sing for me?" he asked gently. I sighed and thought of a few songs I could sing.
"What song?"
"It doesn't matter. Just sing something."
I sang a simple song that my angel taught me when I was younger. He smiled as I reached the climax of the song. It reminded me of the happy time when he was my teacher and friend. When the song was over, Erik looked at me and grinned. I giggled with a gloved hand covering my mouth. "What?" I giggled. He shook his head, still smiling.
"Nothing, just remembering when you were still a child." He answered. As it was getting warm in the room, I pulled out my fan and slowly fanned it back and forth in front if my face. "When are you going to get out of bed?" I changed the subject. Erik sighed and turned his face away. "Not today." he grumbled. " You said that yesterday, and the day before that." I whispered, my eyes wide in annoyance.
Erik had really been milking his sickness. It had been a month and a half; two weeks later than the doctor said he would need to be in bed. "Let me be, Christine." he growled. I set my jaw and refrained from responding rudely. "Fine. Meg and I are going down to the lake today. I just thought that it would be nice for you to get out." I answered sweetly. He stared down at his lap and shook his head. "Have a nice time, my dear." He dismissed me simply. I stood and planted a kiss on Erik's cheek.
"When we return, we can eat supper together." I chirped before striding out the door.

"He's just been so cruel lately." I complained to Meg as we sat by the lake in a field of green grass. The lake was only a five minute horse ride away from the house, so it was currently my favorite spot. "Give him some time. He's still recovering." Meg advised. I shook my head and looked at the glittering water.
"I don't know....He'll get better. I will make sure of that." Meg nodded in agreement and changed the subject to Luke.
"I think he's going to propose soon." She gushed excitedly. I grinned and started pulling up blades of grass around us. "He keeps hinting about spending the rest of his life with me, or having beautiful children." she continued, without checking to see if I was even listening.
"Luke will ask soon, I'm sure." I said simply, to keep her conversation aflame.
We sat, talking for about an hour, until we mounted our horses and slowly rode back home. I wasn't really supposed to ride horses, but I did so anyways. Erik barely even protested when I told him I would be riding a horse. But he would be back to normal soon. Right?
