An End to Something New

****Sorry for the wait guys! I am truly sorry for the wait. I had major writers block and school was hectic but I have graduated and its SUMMER! Ok enough staling here it is**** 

It was a surprise to both Emily and Daniel that Aiden was on their front porch.

"Aiden what are you doing here?" Daniel said angrily while helping Emily out of the car.

"Well, I came to talk to Emily but I guess I will just turn around and go back over the pond as you Americans say." He said walking down the stairs.

"Aiden wait. You wouldn't just show up if it wasn't important. What is it?"

"Its Ashley-"

"Wha- whats wrong? You still talk to her? Is she okay?" She says worried for her best friend.

"She's was involved in an accident. She's gone." Aiden says with a tear coming down his face.

"What do you mean? How? When? Why?" Emily says tearing up.

"It happened a month ago. We were on our way to dinner and a car hit her side of the car. She died instantly. I'm sorry I tried to save her but she was already gone." Aiden said with a river coming from his eyes.

"Aiden,I-I-I do not know what to say. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine I just had a concussion and have to do PT for my leg every week. I just miss her so much."

"What happened to your leg?" Daniel said with teary eyes also.

"It was crushed during the crash. I had to have surgery to repair the damage but I should be back up and running in three to four months."

"Oh." Emily couldn't concentrate with the pain that she felt after learning her best friend had died.

"Aiden I think in need to get Emily inside. Please feel free to come over tomorrow to talk more." Daniel said shaking Aiden's hand and taking Emily inside.

"I will try. Goodnight." Aiden said walking down the drive way.

As soon as Emily crossed the threshold of the house she toppled down crying. Daniel knew how she felt so he just stayed there with her holding her and comforting her. They eventually moved to the couch still holding each other, crying and remembering the memories they had with Ashley. They stayed there all night only to fall asleep when they could not cry any longer and saw the sun was rising over the water.

Emily was woken by this feeling in her stomach. It wasn't morning sickness or hunger so she started to freak out, soon to realize it is just the baby kicking her ribs. She woke Daniel by jumping up from the couch with a scream.

"Emily what wrong? Are you okay?" Daniel said seeing Emily holding her belly.

"Its the baby. Shes kicking my ribs. Go back to sleep. We are okay." She says reassuring her husband.

"Are you sure? Cause you know I cant go to sleep with you in pain and its already 10 in the morning."

"I'm sure. Did you ever get the crib and paint out the trunk of the car last night?"

"I have not. I will do it right now. And maybe even start painting. To get my mind off things."

"Sounds perfect. I will start looking for bedding for our little Berkeley Jane. To keep my mind off things as well." She says kissing Daniel.

Daniel starts to paint Berkeley's nursery and Emily is looking for bedding for their daughter. But neither of them can keep their minds off last nights events. They both break down crying once or twice. But Daniel eventually gets the second coat of paint on and Emily finally orders the last of the bedding. Emily goes up stairs to see what Daniel is doing. She find him putting the crib together and sees he did the walls perfect with one white wall and the rest coral. Just as she imagined it.

"Babe it looks great in here. You did a very good job. And you chose the perfect wall for the crib. I love it." Emily says with a huge smile on her face.

"Well I only hope she likes it and will actually sleep in here. Because I can not have her in bed with us. Its already awkward and she can't even see us."

"You know she can hear you right?" Emily says while raising an eyebrow.

"She can?!"

"Yea, every word and every sound." Emily says while laughing.

"Guess we aren't doing anything anymore. Ew." Daniel says while shivering.

Daniel finishes putting the crib that will hold their baby soon. Emily goes to the guest room closet and opens the box of memories that she has. Half of the box is filled with pictures of her and Ashley. She starts looking at them and remembering the day each picture is taken. Daniel comes in after putting the crib on the wall and sits next to her. She begins telling him the memories the picture brings back and with the memories brings emotions. Both Emily and Daniel are balling at the end. They end their night the same as the last but this time they fall asleep on the floor holding each other, Daniel's hand is on Emily's belly, and Emily is holding the very last picture of her add Ashley at their wedding, dancing to their favorite song smiling.
