"I'm really sorry Dara but uncle and I just can't send you to medicine school anymore. "

Sandara or Dara Park , sighed as she listens to her aunt's heart breaking news.

"Don't worry about it, I understand aunt Meng." Dara said with a smile. She tried her hardest not to show her disappointment.

Margaret Park or whom Dara fondly called as Aunt Meng and her husband Dr. Min Park, or Uncle Min are Dara's adoptive parents. At 28 years old she still lives with them. She helps out in her uncle Min's clinic on weekends or whenever her schedule from school allows it. She enjoys taking care of his uncles's patients. She also believe this will be a good training ground for her since she is currently in her junior year in Medicine.

Aunt Meng and Uncle Min are not biologically related to her. She knew she was adopted for as long as she could remember. From what she was told, she is the daugher of a certain Sandra Lee. Aunt Meng and Sandra used to work together in Seoul General Hospital. Aunt Meng was as a nurse, uncle Min is a pediatric surgeon and her mom, was the assistant to the chief doctor of the hospital.

Her parents told her that her mom had an internal bleeding while giving birth to her and eventually died. Her father whom nobody knows who, never came forward to get her so as per hospital policy, she was turned over to social services who later on sent her to an orphanage.

Dara was already two years old when Aunt Meng and Uncle Min adopted her. The couple decided to leave Seoul General Hospital to move to Busan and open up their own clinic. Since they never had a child of their own, they resorted to adoption and they only have one child in mind.

When Dara was born, Uncle Min operated on her to close a tiny whole in her heart. They grew fond of the strong baby Dara who fought so hard to survive despite having no mother. She was named Sandara Lee in memory of her late mother then her last name was changed Park after her adoption. Aunt Meng and Uncle Min never denied her of her true identity. As a matter of fact, Dara grew up calling her adoptive parents as Aunt and Uncle and her late mother, her eomma.

"See, your Uncle and I are getting old and we really wanted to retire soon and go on a vacation. We were hoping to go after you finished med school so someone could take over the clinic but with your uncle's health on the decline, I think it's best for us to go now." Aunt Meng sadly explained.

"It's okay Aunt Meng, I think I can still make it in my last year in med school on my own. I was able to save money while working part time in the coffee shop. Maybe I could have one more job to help with my expenses you know." Dara replied smiling, trying to sound cheerful.

"We're really sorry Dara." Aunt Meng said while touching her hand.

Dara just smiled.

Deep inside, it hurts her to see her aunt this way. She and uncle Min were very kind and they provided her with everything she needs.
Her heart aches thinking that she is not able to repay them. To provide a good retirement for the both of them.

Even though Aunt Meng will not tell her directly, she knew the real reason why they can't send her to med school anymore.

It fustrates her knowing that it's because of Charlene and her lavish lifestyle. What's the worst part? She cannot do anything about it.

Charlene is Aunt Meng and Uncle Min's real daughter. She was born when Dara was five years old. Aunt Meng didn't expect that at the age of forty eight, she would still get pregnant and bear a child.

Dara was very ecstatic to finally have a younger sister. Charlene thought otherwise. Charlene hates her.
Dara on the other hand tried to be the best sister but Charlene only sees her as competition. Charlene always want to outbest Dara. To be better than Dara. Charlene thought that if she defeats Dara, she'll get all their parents' love and affection. That's how selfish Charlene is and Dara knows this. She tried to be understanding to her younger sister. She tried to give in to Charlene's ways. However if she feels it's too much, then she stands her ground. If she wants something and Charlene happens to want it too, she would always be the one to give up on it.
