I moaned at the sound of metal clanging that blasted through my head. "Sorry." I heard a male voice apologise.

Shit.

I squeezed my eyes shut and hastily ran my hands down my hips and exhaled with relief when I felt fabric. "Don't worry," He chuckled, "We didn't have sex." I peeked out from under the warmth of a beige blanked that was laid over me and noticed Aiden standing in the kitchen.

"Hey." I greeted while running a hand through my hair, trying to sooth it down and tuck it behind my ear.

"Still hungover?"

"No, I think I'm still drunk." I sat up expecting a pain but instead a swirl rocked me.

Aiden chuckled. "I wouldn't doubt it. I'm making pancakes. Would you like some?"

I looked around the small room, with its wall of shelves filled with books, pictures and boxes. There was an oversized chair, that matched the colour of the blanket that covered me. "Yeah, that would be great thanks." He nodded in return. "Aiden?"

"Yeah?"

"What am I doing here?"

After flipping one of the pancakes, he set the pan down and turned around to face me. "You were pretty tipsy last night and I didn't feel like staying much longer at the party, so I brought you home." He stated nonchalantly.

I dropped my head into my hands and sighed out loud in frustration. "My dad is going to kill me."

"I wouldn't worry about that," he stated, grabbing my attention. "Dylan phoned last night, telling Mrs Michael's that you guys would be spending the night here."

"Dylan's here?"

He quirked an eyebrow before a smirk a lined his facial features. "Yeah?"

I gulped. I didn't exactly want to talk to him after the incident that took place last night at the party.

Sigh.

I stood up and shuffled over to the sliding door to admire the ocean view. After a while, I opened the door and stepped out onto the wooden deck. The clouds hung low over the water. Wrapping my arms over my chest, I braced myself against the cool breeze. I closed my eyes and breathed in the damp air.

Aiden stepped out and stood beside me, placing his hands on the railing while watching the seagulls fly across the water before landing on the beach.

"Crappy day." He observed, glancing at me.

"Feels like me." I groaned, attempting to smile. He went back inside while I stared out at the black water, which seemed inviting. I wanted to float along it's surface, breathe in the mist. I glanced back into the house and noticed Aiden was occupied with cooking.

I crept down the steps, easing my way over to the course sandy beach. I stared out at the black water that had gentle waves crashing onto the shore. I took one more glance back at the house and slipped out of my jeans before I peeled off my top and dropped it on the sand along with my bra and pantie. I slowly made my way deeper into the water as it pushed up my thighs and I dived beneath an oncoming wave.

I broke through the surface, gasping from the cold water. Another wave approached and I ducked under it, re-emerging on the other side. I lay back on the surface and kicked my feet, pushing myself further away from the shore. My thoughts were quiet. Ethan's hateful voice disappeared and the buzz in my head was replaced with calm. Nothing mattered. I tried to imagine what it would feel like to let the ocean swallow me in, to let the still water surround me forever but I knew I had to get out.
