Chapter 7 (Alex's pov)
"Ok. Let's get to our room then," Chloe says.
I nod and we begin heading down the hall.
I bite on my lip, thinking of ways to change back. It's a habit I get when I'm thinking. This sucks, but I'm happy that I've given her a chance to be the person she wants to be.
Unfortunately, I have a football game that I have to be at. As the star quarterback, I need to be there.
"Are you sure you're ok, Al?" Chloe asks, placing "her" hand on my shoulder.
"Y-yeah, I'm sure," I reply unsteadily.
Chloe pulls us to a stop. "What's wrong?" She looks me in the eyes.
I sigh. 'Well, not getting out of this.'
"I have a football game tonight at 7pm. I have to be there," I tell her.
"OK. I'll go for you, unless we change back before then," Chloe says, unworried like.
"You can't!" I say quickly. "I'm not saying that because you're a girl. I'm not sexist. I'm saying that because I'm the star quarterback."
"Her" eyes widen. "Are you serious?" She asks in disbelief. I nod. "No wonder you're so muscular."
"My" eyes widen and I blush.
"Uh," I say, kinda stunned.
"Her" eyes widen in realization. She blushes. "I didn-" she starts but is cut off by the sound of pounding feet coming down the hall to our right quickly. I turn and get into a fighting stance only to see it's Austin, Dustin, Dave, Stevie, Kate, Bobby, and Joey running towards us.
They skid to a stop and bend over, panting for breath.
Chloe steps forward. "What the hell happened to you guys?"
Bobby is the first to catch his breath enough to speak.
"Kat...daycare kids...missing..." he pants.
Chloe's eyes widen in shock.
"Chad too," Dustin adds.
"Damn it!" I mutter. I clench "my" fists. I push through the Clan and run to get my brothers and the other kids.
I hear footsteps following behind me, but I pay little attention to them.
My baby brothers... I can't believe they are missing. Who would take 7 kids plus 2 adults?
"My" eyes begin to sting from unshed tears. I roughly wipe "my" eyes and keep running through the halls, looking for the front door.
I am the legal guardian of my brothers, ever since Dad died and Mama went into rehab.
I promised Mama to protect them. I clench "my" fists tighter and run faster, trying to get there quicker.
I kick the doors open in time to see tall, strong men in black clothing with masks forcing Kat, who is holding Dustin's twins, Donnie and Terra, into the back of a big, black van. I run towards them, seeing only red.
"My" fist connects with the nose part of the mask on the one who is holding Jack. He's let go and he darts for the building. I land a swift, hard kick to the gut of the one holding John. He follows Jack.
I turn my attention to the van. The next thing I know, my face is on the ground and I'm struggling to stay up with a couple guys on top of me.
Instantly, panic creeps into "my" body. I pull "my" knees up to protect Chloe's stomach, where her baby is. I slam "my" elbow back and it connects with the eye of the guy on top of me. He jumps back, causing the other guys to come off.
