Chapter 27 **Joey's pov**

**Back when he was 17 years old**

"Hey, you stupid feline! Get the hell away from us!" Yelled a small boy. He threw a rock at the tiny, flea-bitten kitten, mewing softly at the group of boys.

Another boy laughed and kicked the kitten into a wall. "You'll never find a home here, you gross thing!"

The boys laughed.

I balled my fists in anger. "Hey! Go pick on something your own size!" I yelled, storming over to them. I scooped up the tiny, precious thing. Glaring at the boys in an intimidating way, I yelled, "Leave this area now before I hurt you like you did this creature! You call yourselves followers of God, yet you treat this animal as if it were Satan! I hope your significant others look down upon you in distain to you horrific deeds!"

The boys, with tears in their eyes, ran from the area, their pathetic tails between their legs.

I turned my attention back to the kitten. Her ear had been eaten off from the fleas, and her body was so thin from malnutrition. Her beautiful white, brown, and black fur was matted from not bathing. My eyes filled with tears and I rushed back to the penthouse where Alex and the rest of the Clan lived.

As I hurried into my bathroom, I yelled for the boys to go out and buy milk and bottles for the kitten. I turned on my sink, filling it with soapy water. Then, using a washrag, I gently scrubbed the kitten clean, making her fur silky. I gently washed the area over where her ear had been eaten, my heart aching for this tiny creature that I held in my hands.

She mewed softly at me, her giant blue eyes gazing up at me. She stared into my soul, and I think we connected on a spiritual level. I fell in love with this beautiful kitten.

I made sure to wash away all of the dirt and grime on her. I noticed that she had a hard time breathing. Upon noticing this, I began to panic. I grabbed an overnight bag, and left the penthouse, grabbing car keys. I jumped into a silver Camaro, turning it on while keeping the kitten in my hand. I threw my bag into the passenger seat and sped down the street, headed for the vet.

She cried quietly in my arms, and my heart yearned to stop her tiny cries. I pressed my foot on the gas harder.

When I got to the vet, I pulled into the parking lot sideways, literally. I pulled into an empty stall at the front door and ran inside after shutting off the engine and grabbing my bag. I went up to the receptionist. No one else was in the lobby.

"Hello, sir. How can I help you today?" The lady asked.

"I need to see the vet! My kitten is injured!" I hurriedly said.

The receptionist looked at her and sneered. "She's hideous!"

I growled. "Get me an appointment right now so this kitten can live."

The lady gulped and hurriedly tapped on her computer. "You're in luck! Right now, no one has an appointment!" She laughed, sweat trickling down her face from fear.

I nodded. "Now, where is the vet?"

"He'll be out in a moment."

The vet walked out then. "Someone is here to see me?" He asked, looking up at me.

I ran over to him and showed him the kitten. "My little kitten has been injured. Will you help her?" I asked, fear showing in my quivering voice.

The vet nodded and smiled at me, leading me down to a room where he laid my kitten on a small metal table.

My kitten gazed up at me, mewing softly. I lowered my face down to her level.

"Don't worry now," I whispered to her, stroking her tiny head. "You're safe now."

She closed her small eyes. I turned mine to the vet.

"Please tell me you are able to save her," I said.

He looked at me before starting to work on my kitten. "I can't promise anything, but I will do my best."

**A few hours later**

The vet came over to me, holding my small kitten. I held my arms out for her and he gently placed her in my arms.

"I took care of the breathing issues she had, so she's fine now. I also gave her all the vaccines she needs, so you won't need to worry about that. Do you have a name for the little cutie?" He asked, looking at me.

"Yeah, her name's Coco. Do you mind getting her microchipped?" I asked, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly.

The vet smiled kindly and nodded. He took her back to where he was. As he microchipped Coco, I bought a tiny pink cat collar, along with a few cat toys.

As I found this stuff, 2 girls and a boy walked in alone. They each had one pet.

The girl with black hair had a snake, the girl with brown hair had a puppy, and the boy had an old cat.

They walked up to the receptionist and started talking to her. I watched them, feeling a wave of sadness wash over me.

I heard the vet come back and turned away from the small group, looking at my tiny kitten. I smiled as I took her back from the vet.

"Thank you so much," I said, smiling. He smiled and nodded.

"Pay Beth at the counter, then you're free to go, sir," he said, going over and talking to the group.

I hurried over, paid for the stuff for my new kitten, then left without another word.

As I got into my car, I could hear Coco's stomach growl in hunger. My heart ached for her, so I sped home, where the Clan had already gotten everything ready for the new arrival. I smiled at their kindness for helping a tiny creature.

I wrapped her up in an old shirt of mine, where she snuggled in. I fed her until she had had her fill. She yawned and curled deeper into my shirt.

I took her to my room, where we laid on my bed, sleeping together like every night after that day.

**End**

I've had Coco ever since. She's grown to be quite an adorable cat. She cuddles with me when I'm sad and I take care of her when she comes by.

She tends to wander the building, but she's never with me when I cut myself. But now, I won't need to cut, because I have my mate.

I'll take care of both my mate and Coco. I love both of them so much...
