After a few classes, I realized that maybe this year would be awesome. The teachers were super nice, an we didn't get any homework in any of the classes. I also got a few class buddies, and people were pretty friendly. I didn't really talk to Asher, even though part me tugged to. I only had 2 classes with Kayto and Dante, but somehow they got all classes together. (Go figure lol)
I walk to my locker, surprised at how fast the day went, and excitement grabbing at my stomach so I could sit by Asher on the bus again.
But, unsurprisingly, I find Kayto's hands tangled in Dante's dirty blond hair, lips locked, and her pushed up against her locker.
"Ahem." I say, and they break apart, and both turn a deep crimson.
"Heyyyyy" Dante says, doing his signature little hand flip thing
"Oh-uhh-hey, we thought everyone went to the buses, and we-um, I mean..." Kayto stutters"No, no, I'm intruding. You guys go have fun. I'll get to the bus. I'll text you later, Kayrser." I wink at her and try to hold in my laughter, and fail miserably. I walk away and hear them mumble and then the sound of a locker being partially slammed again. Geez, those two are just cray. (😁)
Walking to the bus, I just about break into a sprint, but stop myself. At first, I don't know why, but then I remember about the boy I'll hopefully be seeing. Of course, then I see Brad running across the grass to me.
"Hey!" He pants
"What." I state, not even bothering to look at him
"Ooh, jeez what's your problems today? I thought you two would be thrilled to see ol' B-boy!" Brad smiles and grabs my hand
"You're an a**. That's our problem. And whatever made you think we would be thrilled to see you is wrong." I said, shaking his hand off
"Okay, jeseus."
"Inside jokes aren't gonna work, Brad." I walk up the stairs of the bus, and turn around and wave to Brad. Damn him.
"Mkay, bye Maya!!" He laughs, and runs to his bus. I still don't know how he is possibly at this school. I see Asher beaming at me from the same seat we sat at this morning, and all the feelings I didn't realize I had felt to punch Brad in more than just one place, all melted away into a sweet butterfly feeling in my throat, heart, and stomach. I smile back at him and sit.
"So, how was the first day?" He asks
"Actually, really good. How about you?" I answer, still feeling suddenly cheerful
"Awesome. I had every class with my best friend."
"Cool" I say. I can't find anything to say until he says,
"So, you know that Brad guy?"
My stomach drops. "Uh, yeah? Why? Do you?"
"Oh, um.... Yeah I do, I just... He's bad news..." Asher's cheeks get red and he slightly turns towards the window.
"Well, I know him from my old school and I already know he's bad news." He seems to brighten up a bit at this and turns fully to face me. Because of my stupid hormones, I feel my cheeks blush and I quickly bury my face in my bag, trying to hide it. I put my bag down, after grabbing my iPod. I put one bud in, just before I feel him entertwine his fingers in mine. I snap my head to him and he's just smiling at me. I smile back, and we sit like that the rest of the bus ride, not talking, just connecting.
