Chapter 19

Sarah's POV

We return to the institute and find that Clary found the cup, Jace and Clary were holding the cup together staring int each other's eyes when Isabelle uses her whip and takes the cup out of their hands, "these is nothing a Shadowhunter can't do in heels", she says as we walk to them, "no argument there", I say, I walk over to my boyfriend, "Alec what are you doing", Jace ask, "you can stare at this monitor all you want they need Angel blood to get past the wards. No downworlder can come into the institute", "not without an invite by a Shadowhunter", Isabelle says, "well last I checked Valentine is a Shadowhunter", Alec says, "he's right, the cup is not safe here. We need to give it to the clave", I say, "give it back to the clave, no, not with everything we've gone through to get it", Clary says, "my brother and my Parabiti are right, the cup is extremely important", Isabelle says, "are you agreeing with us", Alec asks, "full of surprises", Isabelle says, "this cup is the one chance I have at getting my mom back", Clary says, "I agree with Clary, we can't give the cup the the clave, not now, we need it, it's our only bargaining chip", Jace says, "look I know how powerful this cup is, it creates new Shadowhunter, control demons and kill a mundane if they drink from it. But I promise you I won't let that monster get his hands on it", Clary says, "really because if I remember correctly that monster is your father, how do we know your not just going to betray us and give it to him to save your mom", I snap, getting in her face, "I swear I will never let him get the cup", Clary says, "see, you have her word", Jace says, "follow me", Alec says walking away with Clary. Jace looks at me, "what", I ask, "what is with you", he asks, "my problem is you, your so fixed on helping this girl who we barely know help find her mother and it's getting us in trouble with the Clave", I spit, "she's lost everything Sarah", Jace responds, "yeah but at least we knew we were Shadowhunters Jace, this girl has lived a mundane life and you know how I feel about mundanes", I growl, "yeah well learn to live outside of the box", Jace mutters sitting in the chair picking up a tablet before typing on it. Alec comes back but Clary goes and makes a phone call to her mundane friend, just then there was beeping, "what the-", Alec says as we walk towards the monitor. Suddenly the alarms sound signalling there is an intruder, Isabelle, Jace and Clary walk over to us, "there is something outside the perimeter", Jace says, "no dip Sherlock", I say, "I told-", "don't say it", Jace snaps at me, "what's happening", Clary asks, "looks like someone is trying to break in", Isabelle says as we start to walk to the weapons rack to get our weapons. "Could be the circle", Jace says, "told ya so", Alec says, "too soon", Jace says, the boys grab their jackets and I notice Clary running behind us trying to catch up. We get outside with our weapons raised, we see a figure carrying another, "don't move, drop what your holding, put your hands up", Jace says, as we raise our weapons, the figure steps into the light revealing Raphael holding a clearly dead Simon, we all lower our weapons in shock, "oh my god Simon", Clary gasps.

We take Simon to a a basement where we lie him on a table, "people would be asking what we found", Jace says, "we'll go, tell them we found nothing and that it was a false alarm", Alec says, we walk upstairs to where Maryse was, "you two find anything", she asks, "no nothing", I lie, "alright", she says walking away. I walk up to the training room but Alec grabs my hand and spins me so that I face him, "what's wrong", he asks, "my brother, he's acting so reckless lately, following Clary around like a lost puppy", I snap, Alec grabs my shoulders firmly, "hey I know, Jace is pissing me off too but you don't have to take your anger out on the next inanimate object in sight", Alec says making me look into his hazel eyes, he brushes a stray piece of hair out of my face, "I love you", he says, "I love you too", I say.

Later we were called into Robert's office to see him and Maryse waiting for us, "sit", Maryse says pointing to the couch, we sit down with me between the siblings, "no surprise Jace isn't here", Robert says, "he got held up, said to start without him", Isabelle lies, "I'm sure he has a good reason", Maryse says, "your mother and I, ok I requesting a meeting with the Clave because the sealies are siding with Valentine", Robert says, "and they denied it", Maryse says, "what do you mean, they don't want you coming to Idris", Alec asks, "there a rumours of local Shadowhunters interfering in downworld affairs but you three don't know any of that do you", Maryse asks, we shake our heads, "since all of this happened here in New York under our supervision they're concerned of our devotion to our job and the cause", Maryse says, "but we are the Lightwoods", Isabelle says, "remember honour isn't in the name, it's in the deed. The clave is sending an envoy", "who is coming to observe us", "and to gather in information about Valentine, to report back", "but really to scrutinize out leadership, I beg of the three of you, don't do anything that would cause the clave to loose even more trust in us", Maryse says making us look at each other before we get up and exit Robert's office.
