Chapter 25

Sarah's POV
The next morning I thank Magnus before heading to the institute. Isabelle walks in the same time as me, "where are Jace and Clary", I ask, "they are taking Meliord back to the Sealies", she responds, Alec sees us walk in and comes over to us, "where the hell have you two been", he demands, "where I needed to be, away from you and your fiancé", I spit, a flash of hurt comes across his eyes but I dismiss it, "Jace and Clary are on the run. I can't protect you both if you don't tell me the truth", he says, "We don't need protecting, Meliord's alive that's all that matters", I say about to walk away but he grabs my arm, "hey, tell me this, is there anyway that Raj could have seen Isabelle", he asks, glancing over at Raj and Lydia talking, "I don't know", I say turning to walk to my room. "Hey are you ok", he asks, "since when do you care", I snap pushing his arm from me, "I do care about you Sarah", he says, I laugh, "I'll believe it when I see it because if you really cared about you could have at least broke up with me before asking Lydia to marry you", I spit, "Sar-", "don't talk to me", I spit standing beside Isabelle who gives me a reassuring smile.

Lydia walks over to us, "I'm sorry", she says making me scoff, "for what", Alec asks, "Isabelle Lightwood you are under arrest for high treason", Lydia says, "what on what grounds", Alec asks, "only a handful of people know about the Meliord OP", Lydia says, "she would know, she's sleeping with one", Raj says, "jealous much", I mutter earning a smirk from Isabelle, "you know what Lydia, your no better than Valentine but at least he had the guts to tell Downworlders to their face that he wanted them all dead. You just hide behind the law", Isabelle says, "I don't hide behind the law,  follow it", Lydia states, "sure", I say, "if she's convicted she will be stripped of her runes and banished", Alec says, "no shit Sherlock but by the looks of it Isabelle doesn't regret at thing", I snap, Isabelle gives me her stele for safe keeping, "I can't let tha-", "don't, you failed to protect us anyway, especially Sarah", Isabelle says before Raj escorts her away.

I went to go check on Isabelle, "you ok", she asks, I give her a look, "sorry stupid question but I can't believe my stupid brother", she says, "me neither, but I swear when this is over-", "we'll kick his ass together", she says smirking, "speak of the devil", I turn to see Alec walk in. "Jace stole the cup", he says, we look away, "did you both know about this", he asks, "Sarah you didn't just want your arrows did you. Did you help him, the cup is the only thing that will get you out of this", he snaps, "we were doing what's right", Isabelle says turning her back from her brother, "what's right, he put the whole shadow world in danger, he put you guys in danger, we have to get him back here", Alec says walking around to face Isabelle, "they took Meliord back to the sealie realm, you can't track him there", Isabelle says, "and if you dare weaken your Parabiti bond to find my brother, Lydia won't have a husband to marry because he will be dead", I threaten making Alec gulp, "plus you'll weaken both of you", Isabelle says, "Jace already weakened it, it's hard to trust him after what he did", Alec spits, "it's was you who weakened it Alec, not him. Jace was looking out for the people he cares about from the good of his heart unlike you", I spit. "If you go though with this Jace will hate you even more than he already does after you broke his sister's heart", Isabelle says, Alec just storms out.

"Alec please don't do this out of anger, Jace is still your Parabiti", I hear Lydia say as I walk into the infarnery,  "I'm not letting Jace sacrifice my sister for his girlfriend's pointless crusade", Alec says, "we are doing this if you don't want to help get out", "unbelievable", I snap walking out. I call Jace, "hello", "Jace its Sarah", "what's happening", "Isabelle is being accused of treason and Alec knows you stole the cup so he is going to track you through your Parabiti bond", "he what, nevermind, I'll keep that in mind thank you", he hangs up. I walk back into the training room to see Alec shirtless on the bed with Hodge about the activate the rune, Alec groans in pain as Hodge activates the rune, Alec screams Jace's name.

I was keeping Isabelle company when Alec storms in, "what happened", Isabelle asks, "take a guess", I mutter, "are you and Jace ok", she asks, "no, our parabiti bond it's just so weak, it's like a ghost", he says making me realize that no matter what happened he's still my best friend, "Alec what did you do", Isabelle asks as we walk over to Alec, "Lydia and I thought we could stop the trial if we gave the clave the cup", Alec says, "Lydia helped you", Isabelle says, "doesn't matter", he says sitting on the couch. Me and Isabelle exchange glances, "she has no choice but to go ahead with the trial now", Alec says, me and Isabelle sit on either side of Alec, "it's ok big brother, I know you tried", Isabelle says, wrapping her arm around his shoulder, "I'm sorry, both of you", he says just above whisper, "I forgive you", I say, he wraps an arm around me as Isabelle leans her head on his other shoulder and I snuggle my head against his chest, "I'm sure Jace is going to be mad at you but I'll make sure nothing happens", I say, "thank you Sarah", he says kissing my forehead.
