"So where're we going?"
I'm sat awkwardly in the front seat of Rico's car, some music playing soft from the radio.
"I was thinking we could go to that new place by the lake."
"No way." I gasp and turn to look at him. He looks at me sideways and grins. "Seriously?"
He nods and turns on the street leading to the lake. "I thought it'd be nice."
"Try amazing. I've only ever seen it from the other side of the lake, you know, walking and stuff. I just haven't had time to go, with homework and all. Gosh I can't believe you're taking me there." I whisper the last part to myself. I squeal quietly earning a laugh from Rico.
"Just, please, remain in your seat with the seatbelt on until we get there. I beg of you."
"I can't promise you anything." I smile.
He laughs lightly as he pulls into the small parking lot in front.
The place is lit up with fairy lights all along the polls. There's a tree in the back that has a huge trunk with lights twirling around it. The seating area has a ceiling with hundreds of the fairy light covering it. The tables are nicely designed, a white and green color, and the floors are all light brick. They even had Jazz music playing through the speakers.
We walk up to the patio and Rico gave a lady, who dressed very nicely, his name who then took us to our seats. She handed us some menus and sent us our waiter who then went to get our drinks. "Wow this place is pretty expensive."
I'm shocked by the amount of money they ask for grilled chicken. But considering the amount of lighting used here it makes sense.
"Hey, don't worry about it. It's my treat." He gives me a wink and returns to his menu.
"Oh no. I can pay but thanks."
"No, really. I insist." He says putting his menu down. I open my mouth to protest but he stops me. "No matter what you say or do, I will pay. I asked you, I pay."
He gave me a look telling me that no matter what I did I wouldn't win and while that bugged me I let it go with I sigh and a nod. A moment later our waiter returned with my Dr. Pepper and his Sprite.
We both sit quietly, picking what we wanted to eat. I already knew what I wanted. Breadsticks, for sure, and some cheese sticks, or mozzarella sticks if we're being proper.
"Can I take your order?" The waiter can up and stood with a pen and pad in hand.
"Yes. Can I have the breadsticks and cheese sticks." I put my menu down.
"Mozzarella sticks? And breadsticks come with your dinner." On the inside I roll my eyes at his question but on the outside I smile and nod to the waiter. He then turns to Rico who orders his food. The waiter takes our menus and Rico and I are left to ourselves.
"Someone likes her sticks." He laughs.
I nod and laugh with him. "This place is lovely." I say admiring the place.
"It's a lot better than I thought it would be." He agrees and takes a drink of his Sprite. "You look great by the way."
I laugh subtly at the thought of how fast I got ready before smiling very girly at him. "Thank you." Another silence came over but it wasn't really awkward for me, him on the other hand. "Are you a person who generally likes silence?" I question gaining his attention once again.
