"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." -Albert Camus
OK SO IM KEEPING THAT LAST QUOTE BUT I JUST FOUND THIS PERFECT QUOTE THAT GOES ALONG WITH THE WHOLE STORY AMAZINGLY AND IM REALLY EXCITED IF YOU CANT TELL
"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." --E.E. Cummings.
Chapter 22
"Kennan you see Jessica and Ryan too right?"
"Yes."
"Oh God." I said and buried my face in his chest. I shielded my eyes. We were dead, literally. I can't believe it. My two only other friends are dead.
Kennan was rubbing the middle of my back trying to comfort me. While I wasn't looking I heard people walk by us. I could tell it was Ollie and Lauren going to check out the bodies.
I uncovered my face and looked at them. Ollie was down on her knees examining everything about Jessica. I thought that was kind of creepy.
After a few minutes of them studying Jessica and Ryan's bodies they talked in hushed tones. They knew something was wrong.
This was to unbelievable, there was no way everyone could've been killed that fast. Especially the two leaders.
"Kennan, Rehyn come here." Ollie said once her and Lauren were done talking. We both walked over there. I hesitated at first then went. Once we were there Ollie pointed out something on the bottom of both of the bodies shoes. "It's the symbol for the Cloud. Rookie mistake." The symbol was a bird of some sort. It looked like a hawk, but I wasn't positive, holding the moon in its hand and a certificate of some sort.
"They are so stupid. They think they are so high and mighty that they had to label everything." Lauren was saying. I didn't understand.
"Lauren, what they did was pretty smart actually. They thought that we wouldn't come spectate the bodies. They thought we'd see them and leave."
"They aren't that smart." Kennan said, adding on to the conversation.
"Wait, so these are fake bodies?" I asked still confused.
"Yes." Lauren added talking to me like I was stupid. She still didn't like me much.
"Lauren," Ollie sternly said. Turning back to us she continued. "Yes, these bodies are fake. I knew something was wrong. Ryan and the rest shouldn't be here yet."
Once I knew that the bodies were fake I crouched down so I could examine the emblem. I'd never seen it before. I looked at the certificate. It was rolled up in the birds foot.
All you could see was a name. I excepted it to be Torrents name but it was a girls name. Katy E. Pate is what it said. It took me a while to get the relationship.
Once I realized the emblem had my name on it I freaked out. What is this? Why is my name on the symbol?
That's exactly what I asked Ollie when I got up. She said she'd never seen my name but a date. The date she saw was 4-1. April 1. My birthday. Why would it change? I looked again and I didn't see a date I saw my name.
I looked at Ryan's shoe and I still saw my name. I asked Kennan what he saw on the scroll.
He didn't know what I was talking about so I pointed it out. Or at least tried to. When I touched the shoe it faded away. I took my finger off and it reappeared. A hologram. I didn't surprise me much. They used holograms a lot. But that means there is a camera out here probably recording every move we make. The question is. Why haven't they shot at us yet if they know we are here?
