Skye's P.O.V.

I screamed as a huge thing jumped out of the trees in front of me. It was a huge scorpion, with ugly pincers and a giant barbed tail. I backed away fumbling for my wand but dropped it in my panic. I crouched down, mdesperately sifting through the dirt and discarding twigs. My hand closed on my wand and I swung my arm up to hex the creature when I suddenly heard a yell. A boy leapt out of the shadows and slashed at the creature with a sword. Unlike Percy's sword it was short and black, but the creature backed away fast. Still swinging the sword, the boy advanced. He was about to slash at the creature's head but the thing turned tail and fled into the trees. I leant against the tree behind me, breathing heavily. I studied the boy as he sheathed his sword and turned towards me. He was tall, with a shock of black hair, hidden under an aviators hat. His face was thin with olive skin, although it had a pale tinge, like he had spent a lot of time inside. He clothes were all black and he was swamped in a long, black coat, even though it was boiling outside. I looked at his face and was surprised to see that he was a couple of years younger than me, even though he was taller. I glanced at his eyes and shivered despite the heat. They were deep and dark, and made you feel like he had seen all of the terrible things in the world and more. But they held concern as he walked over to me.

'Are you alright?' he asked, offering his hand to help me up. I nodded, taking his hand. When he touched my hand I jumped, his skin was so cold. It sent shivers through my body. He smiled at me but his eyes looked sad. I suddenly found myself wanting to stop those georgous eyes looking so sad, wait, what! Georgous? I shook my head vigourously, as I heard loud thumping coming from the surrounding undergrowth. Suddenly Harry, Percy and the others burst into the clearing, looking worried. I let go of Nico's hand quickly, glancing at his face. He was looking at me puzzled so I raised an eyebrow. He just shook his head, smiling sadly and I turned back to the others.

'Hey Nico' called Percy, and the boy, who I assumed was Nico, waved back. 'Hi' he greeted Annabeth and Percy, 'Hey Mrs. Jackson, Chiron'. To avoid looking at Percy's mum, my mum, I turned to Ginny and Hermione. Ginny was smirking at me triumphantly and I rolled my eyes, she had obviously seen what had happened netween Nico and I. Wait, nothing happened, she's reading too much into it. Or is she? A little voice in my head suggested. I shook my head again, pushing the thought to the back of my mind.

'Hey Skye, so you've met Nico?' Percy's voice called and I made my way over to him, where he stood with Harry, Ron and Nico. 'If being saved from a giant scorpion means meeting, then yes, we've met'. Harry, Ron and Percy laughed and I glanced at Nico, who had stayed quiet. I was surprised to see the laughter in his eyes. He smiled at me and I blushed, something Ginny and Hermione, who had walked over to us, were quick to pick up on. Hermione gave me a knowing wink but I just sighed and rolled my eyes at her. 'Hey Nico, will you come back to camp for a bit?' Percy asked. Nico agreed and we headed back to the lake, where we collapsed and relaxed in the hot sun.

'So Nico' I started, 'Who's your godly parent?' He looked a bit shifty and I realised that he didn't want to tell me. I cast around for a change of subject but then Nico said, 'My father is Hades'. I looked over at Annabeth, who seemed surprised that he had told me so easily. I gathered that Nico wasn't always so open and felt kinda happy that he'd decided to tell me.

'Isn't he the god of the underworld?' Ron asked. Nico looked a it uncomfortable but I smiled at him and he gave me a small smile back. We lapsed into silence, staring at the white clouds floating lazily across the sky. I couldn't stop myself from glancing at Nico occaisonaly. Those eyes were just so captivating... Suddenly a loud shriek rent the air. Harry had taken out his wand, and from the looks of things, had just charmed a huge ball of water to fall over Ginny. 'Oh Potter you are going to pay!' she yelled.

'Really? Last names Weasley?' He smirked back as Ginny stood up, shaking the water out of her hair. 'Oh yes' she grinned evily. Suddenly, Harry was dangling upside over the lake, suspended by his ankle. His smirk had turned to shock and he looked pleadingly at Ginny. 'You wouldn't...' but he sounded unsure.

'Oh wouldn't I?' she smirked. 'Librecorpus'. Harry fell headfirst into the water. He surfaced gasping as we rolled on the floor in laughter. 'Oh Ginny, you know how much I love you' he said clambering onto the bank. He grabbed Ginny into a bear hug, getting her soaking wet.

It had turned into a full scale water war and by the time we had stopped messing around and dried off, it had been dinner time. After dinner I noticed that Nico had vanished and decided to go looking for him. I left the guys singing campfire songs and I saw a flash of his long, black coat near the forest. I followed, determined to talk to him. I hadn't properly thanked him for saving me earlier. I found him standing in the clearing we had been in before. 'Nico?' I called softly. He turned around but didn't answer.

'Are you alright?' I asked, worried.

'Leave me alone'. The bitterness in his voice shocked me. 'Hey' I said defiantley. 'Whats up with you?'

'Why don't you go?' he replied sharply. 'You know you want to'. Feeling bewildered, I walked slowly towards him. 'Nico, what's wrong?'

'Don't I creep you out?' he spat. 'I saw you staring at me'. I blushed but he didn't see. 'How could I not creep you out?' he continued. 'My dad's the god of death, everybody thinks I'm a freak.' He glared at the floor.

'I don't think you're a freak', I said quietly. He looked at me disbelievingly, but I continued. 'You saved me earlier and I don't care who your parents are. Any one who thinks you're a freak is stupid. You should judge people on how they act, not who their parents are.' He looked at me surprised but weary. 'So you don't hate me?'

'No'. I said strongly, 'I don't.'

'Then why were you staring at me?' he asked curiously. Arghh, silly boys!

'Well, I..I..' I stuttered, 'I think you're cute', I blurted out. He raised an eyebrow but looked pleased with himself. I looked at the floor, my cheeks bright red. 'Well, I think you're cute too' he said shyly. I looked up in surprise. 'That's why I was scared that you thought I was a freak' he admitted nervously. I grinned and stepped closer to him. 'It was fun hanging out with you today' I said. He nodded and I looked into his eyes. I felt as though I was losing myself in them, they were so deep and beautiful. Suddenly on impulse, I stepped forward and kissed him. I felt him kiss me back and I wrapped my arms round his neck. Strong but slim arms wrapped around my waist, sending tingles down my spine. Suddenly I pulled away, snatching my arms back. He gently withdrew his arms, looking confused. 'I'm sorry' I whispered and I ran out of the woods.

What on earth was I thinking! I didn't even know him that well. Tears slid down my face as I ran back to the camp fire.
