Skye's P.O.V.

I stared at the owls, as Ron untied the letters and handed them to each of us.

I read the front of my letter and smiled. Hogwarts didn't miss a trick, but the question was, why were they writing to us? Curious, I flipped the envelope over to see the familiar Hogwarts crest and I opened it to reveal Professor Mcgonagall's neat cursive:

Dear Skye Jackson,

Due to the unfortunate events last year, the 7th years were not able to complete their learning. Therefore, we would be delighted if you would agree to come back and repeat your last year, in order to gain your N.E.W.T.s. This year is not compulsory, but is highly useful if you wish to persue a career path that requires such qualifications. You will take your lessons with this years current 7th year and Gryffindor Tower has been expanded to accomodate you. Please consider this proposition and send your owl in reply by the 25th of August. If you do wish to continue your education, there is a supplies list included.

Yours Sincerely,

Minerva Mcgonagall. (Headmistress)

I read through the letter a couple more times and looked around at my silent friends. Hermione was looking thoughtful, Harry unsure and Ron gobsmacked. Like me, Ginny was quietly contemplating what returning to school might mean for our future.

'They want us to go back?' Ron spluttered indignantly. 'They actually want us to go back to school out of our own free will!'

Harry laughed and looked at Ron, 'Yeah but think of the quidditch mate.' He glanced at Hermione, suddenly looking worried. 'They will let us play right?' Hermione rolled her eyes and muttered something that sounded a lot like 'boys'.

'I'm going back' I announced. Everyone looked at me, surprised that I'd come to a decision so quickly. 'I want to be a healer', I explained, 'And for that you need really good N.E.W.T. results.' Hermione nodded and said, 'I agree with Skye. Anyway, my parents would want me to finish my education.'

At these words, Ron groaned and banged his head against the table. 'Mum's going to be a nightmare' he moaned. 'I'm going to have to go back'. I laughed at him. 'What about Fred and George. They didn't have to go back'. The room went very quiet when I said Fred's name, and I looked down at the table regretting that I'd said it.

'Yeah' Ron said slowly, 'But there was two of them. They could share mum's wrath. And trust me, there's a lot of it'. He cracked a small smile and the atmosphere relaxed again. 'Well I have to go back whatever happens' said Ginny, waving her letter. 'I'm in my 7th year this year anyway, so I don't have a choice. Harry opened his mouth to speak but I interrupted him 'And where Ginny goes Harry follows' I said. He nodded sheepishly as everyone else around the table laughed.

'So does this mean that you guys are leaving to go back to school?' asked a voice. I looked around to see Percy smiling bemusedly. I had completely forgotten that he, Annabeth and Chiron were still here. 'Yeah, I suppose' I said.

Merlin's Pants!' yelled Hermione, making us all jump about a foot in the air. 'What?' yelled Ron, Harry and I in unison.

'The 25th of August is tomorrow! They obviously weren't expecting us to be this far away, so the owls must have taken longer than they thought they would do. That means term starts in six days!'
