Skye's P.O.V.

The train smoothly pulled into the station, stopping with a slight shudder. Grinning like maniacs, we grabbed our stuff and jumbled out onto the platform.

'I swear first years get smaller every year' Ron commented, after he had almost tripped over a tiny brown headed boy who was lugging a suitcase that looked almost as big as him. Hermione sighed,

'Ron, you say that every year too. And you are just getting bigger.' Ron rolled his eyes, and so didn't see Hermione as she turned to me and whispered, 'But these ones do seem really small'.

I giggled and then my smile grew even bigger, if that was possible, when I heard the familiar voice call out, 'Firs' years this way'.

'Hagrid!!' we all yelled, dragging Percy and Annabeth over to him. They hadn't met him yet but they didn't seem too surprised. Maybe they saw a lot of half-giants, being the children of gods.

''Ello, you lot' Hagrid grinned, his black eyes twinkling and his smile barely visible beneath his shaggy black beard.

'Hi Hagrid' smiled Ginny. 'This is Percy and Annabeth, they're staying at Hogwarts for a term.'

'Mcgonagall told me 'bout you two' Hagridbeamed at them. 'If you wait one second I'll make sure everyone's ready and we can go down to the lake'.

Percy looked happy at the sound of the lake and we called goodbye as we set off for the carriages that would take us from Hogsmead to the castle.

Percy's P.O.V.

We followed the giant called Hagrid down a muddy path towards what had to be the lake. I could feel the pull of the water, even though fresh water wasn't as strong as salt water. I felt a bit embarrassed, seeing as Annabeth and I were so much taller than the procession of first years. Annabeth gripped my hand tightly and I could tell how nervous she was. I squeezed her hand back and muttered, 'We'll be fine'.

She nodded and then I saw the lake. It was huge and glittered like a black gem in the night sky. The full moon was reflected in the still water and tiny bubbles surfaced and broke as strange and mysterious creatures swam beneath. I felt the urge to dive in and see the amazing wildlife for myself, but now probably wasn't the time. We climbed into a boat and I couldn't help but show off a bit. Man, I loved being in the water. I made the boat rear up like a speed boat and we lead the line towards the castle.

'Oi, Percy, slow down' I heard Hagrid chuckle, and I reluctantly pulled the boat back to the group. Suddenly Annabeth gasped. In front of us loomed a huge castle. Giant and majestic, its towers seemed to scrape the sky and each window was a glimmering light guiding us towards it. It was amazing and beautiful. Beside me, I heard Annabeth whisper, 'This architecture is amazing.'

For once I didn't argue.

We sat impatiently in the great hall, Harry with his head ducked and his collar pulled up in a vain attempt to stop people from looking at him.

Ginny, Hermione and I scowled furiously at anyone who stared at him for too long and Ron sighed, 'They could show a bit of respect, you know.'

'They just want to see their hero,' replied Neville, slightly uncomfortably. He was sitting next to us and was getting a fair bit of attention himself. After all, he had pulled the sword of Gryffindor out of the sorting hat before using it to kill Voldemort's snake. Not to mention getting set on fire by the evil snake dude himself.

Thankfully, Mcgonagall called for silence, and the huge oak doors opened to reveal professor Flitwick. He was leading the large group of first years, and behind them stood Percy and Annabeth, looking awkward.

'When I call your name,' squeaked Flitwick, 'you will sit on this stool. I shall then place the hat upon your head, and you will be sorted into your house. Amin, Patrick.'

The small brown haired boy Ron had almost squashed on the station tripped forward and sat down. Flitwick placed the hat on his head and it called out 'SLYTHERIN!'

Ron groaned and we all rolled our eyes. 'There's nothing wrong with being in Slytherin,' Harry said, slightly defensively. I knew he was thinking of Snape, but Ron just grunted and nodded over to the Slytherin table, where Malfoy was sitting slumped in his seat, staring at the table as though his life depended on it. He looked strangely small without Crabbe and Goyle. Crabbe had died in the battle last year, I wasn't sure exactly how, and Harry wouldn't say. Goyle had chosen not to return this year, along with most of the Slytherins.

I turned my attention back to the sorting as Flitwick called out 'Chase, Annabeth'.

Annabeth's P.O.V.

I nervously stepped up to the stool. I didn't know if Mcgonagall had explained who, or what, we were to everyone yet, and I didn't like that so many people were staring at me. I stared at the floor as the hat was placed on my head.

'Hmm' said a small voice in my ear and I jumped. I heard a few stiffled giggles in the hall but ignored them. 'A fine brain here,' the voice said again. 'Ravenclaw would definately be good for you, but wait. You are definately brave and a strong thirst to prove yourself, hmm. Better be, GRYFFINDOR!' It yelled the last name out to the hall and I sighed, relieved. I gratefully took the seat next to Hermione which she had saved for me.

Percy's P.O.V.

'Jackson, Percy' I heard the tiny man call. Fitwick, or something? I confidently stepped up to the stool, it was just a hat right? I felt it being placed on my head and suddenly I heard a voice in my mind say, 'Mmm, bravery is definately your strongest quality, as well as the determination to do anything to help the ones you love. No doubt about it, GRYFFINDOR!'

I pulled the hat off and jogged over to the Gryfindor table. I sat down next to Annabeth and gripped her hand under the table. She gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, making me blush as Ron wolf-whistled. I grinned and watched the rest of the first years get sorted.

Finally, Mcgonagall tapped her spoon on the side of her crystal goblet, making a curiously loud ringing sound. Then she said simply, 'Let the feast begin.'
