Skye's P.O.V.

I woke up to see the light streaming through the large windows in the gryffindor 8th year girls dorm. Boy I had missed this. I stretched, threw off the covers and glanced at the clock. Six thirty, right I had half an hour before breakfast. I grabbed a towel and took a quick shower. As I came out I passed Hermione, who was looking bushy haired and excited. Annabeth, as it turned out, was the year below us, and so was sharing a dorm with Ginny. I saw Lavender Brown on the bed across the room. She had been attacked by Greyback during the battle last year, but, like Bill, she had survived the attack.

I smiled at her as she yawned and waved. Ever since she found out that Hermione was dating Ron she had given up hope it seemed and become perfectly friendly to Hermione and I. Pavarti, Lavender's best friend, was in the bed next to her, still asleep. Lavender rolled her eyes at me before going back to trying to wake her sleeping friend.

'Have you tried the augamenti charm?' I suggested, winking.

'You know what? That sound like a good idea' Lavender grinned cheekily, aiming her wand at her friends face. Just as Hermione came out of the shower, Lavender said the charm and Parvarti was hit full in the face by a jet of freezing water. She screamed and the rest of us fell about laughing. Ten minutes later, the four of us headed down the stairs to the common room, where Annabeth, Ginny, Harry, Percy and Ron stood.

Lavender blushed slightly when she saw Ron, but he smiled at her and she seemed more comfortable. Just then, Seamus and Dean appeared, causing Percy, and surprisingly Pavarti, to go bright red. I remembered how Dean had blushed when he mentioned her on the train and I smiled at her, wiggling my eyebrows suggestively. She rolled her eyes but unfortunately Dean saw.

'Hey! What's so funny?' he asked puzzled. Pavarti went tomato red and I couldn't speak for laughing. Harry just shook his head and asked if Dean and Seamus wanted to come to breakfast with us. Seamus however, suddenly remembered that he'd left his quills in his room and Dean, Lavender and Pavarti said they'd wait for him, so we headed down to the Great Hall without them.

We strolled into the Great Hall and sat down at the Gryffindor table, where Neville was already eating. 'Hey Neville' I called and he waved to us in greeting.

'I'm done eating' he said, 'So I'll go get our timetables, okay?'

'Thanks Neville' said Ron, as Neville headed off to where the new Gryffindor head of house was sitting, since Mcgonagall couldn't do that job now she was Headmistress. I looked over, wondering who it could be and my grin almost split my face in half it was so big. There stood Hagrid, handing out timetables and checking option choices.

'Hey, look who got made head of house' I said, pointing towards our friend.

'No way' said Ron shocked, 'I always thought he was in Hufflepuff.'

Hermione rolled her eyes, as Ginny said, 'Of course he was in Gryffindor.'

'He must have been,' added Harry, 'especially as he had the nerve to try and raise a dragon'. We all laughed as Neville returned with our timetables.

'What have you guys got first?' he asked. I scanned mine and saw that I had defence against the dark arts first, with the 7th year gryffindors. I looked at everyone elses and luckily we all had the same. We grabbed our bags and headed off to the DADA classroom.

'I wonder who will be teaching us this year' Ron said, 'The chair at the staff table was empty so-'

Ron had stopped talking as soon as the door opened. I looked at the man standing at the front of the room and my mouth dropped open.

'Percy!' Spluttered Ginny, flabberghasted.

'Oh hello' said Percy Weasley, looking up from his papers.

'I thought you were working for the ministry?' I asked, curiously.

'I was,' he replied, 'but then Mcgonagall asked if I wouldn't mind taking the place of DADA teacher, seeing as last years are in Azkaban.' He smiled and gestured at us to take a seat.

'Are you even qualified to teach DADA?' asked Ron bluntly.

Percy fixed him with a glare and said, 'I gained 12 outstanding O.W.L.s Ron and I fought last year, therefore I do believe that I am completely qualified to teach DADA.'

Ron muttered under his breath and blushed slightly, but took his seat next to Hermione.

When everyone had finally arrived and the class had settled, Percy, or Mr Weasley, stood up.

'Morning class, I am Mr Weasley, and today we will be studying a selection of defensive and offensive curses and jinxes and how to block them. The first spell has a peculiar effect. It causes the recipient to turn into some form of sea urchin...'

At the end of what was actually a very good and interesting lesson, the class left but I went to talk to Percy.

'That was a brilliant lesson' I congratulated him, grinning.

'You really think so?' he asked, more nervous now that he wasn't under the scrutiny of the class. 'I was up all night preparing it, I didn't go to the welcome feast or breakfast.'

'Percy, you can't skip meals. You should go to the kitchen in your next free period and get some food.' I admonished.

Percy sighed, 'You're right I suppose. How do you get to the kitchens?'

My jaw dropped. 'You lived with two of the greatest pranksters in Hogwarts History and you don't know how to get into the kitchens?'

Percy rolled his eyes, 'I was a prefect and yes, a bit of a snob, so no I do not know how to get into the kitchens.' I sighed and explained how you had to tickle the pear to make it turn into a door handle. Percy thanked me and I walked to the door to join the others, who had waited for me. Together we set off for herbology.
