Jesy's day at school was miserable to say the least. All she could think was that she'd let Leigh-Anne down somehow and made her hate her.
She'd looked so down that Princeton had tried to comfort her even though he was sure she wouldn't accept his comfort. She'd scowled at him but didn't make any mean comment or punch him so he knew things were bad.
Jesy was now in bed asleep after another horribly failed attempt at getting the matter out of Leigh-Anne that night. Her sleep was miserable too. Leigh-Anne didn't want to cuddle and insisted on having the dog sleep between them so she could cuddle with him.
On top of that she was having yet another nightmare where darkness was the backdrop. It was the same as last time only that they were running. She and Leigh-Anne were running.
"Tell me what's wrong now! What are we running from?" Jesy was screaming as they ran away from something.
When Leigh-Anne opened her mouth to talk all that came out was the crashing sounds of a desperate tune being played on piano. The song matched the pounding in Jesy's broken heart.
She was screaming tears when she asked Leigh-Anne the question again. Their running feet pounding faster and harder on the black nothingness.
When Leigh-Anne tried to speak the result was the same as the crashing piano song seemed to progress as it came from her mouth the same melody but far more desperate. She actually knew the song. It was a tune from a show Jade liked. She wondered why it was in her dream. It actually kind of summed up her feelings about everything recently.
Jesy sat up so quickly in bed that she felt her neck jolt forward. It hurt. Her heart felt like it was trying to claw its way from her chest, jackhammering along in attempt at keeping her alive through sheer pain. She wasn't even surprised when she noticed Leigh-Anne was nowhere to be seen. The puppy was gone too.
Jesy slipped to the edge of the bed sitting so her feet hung over the side. She breathed in deeply warding off the inert panic that she was experiencing for the past couple of days. She swiped a hand across her forehead feeling sweat even though she actually felt quite chilled. She needed to find Leigh-Anne and get the issue out of her. Garvin couldn't do it today no matter what he tried which meant it was up to her. She had to figure out what was wrong.
She checked the bathroom first even though the light was off in there. There was no sign of Leigh or Harvey so she tried to think of where they could possibly have went. She stepped out of their bedroom and looked down the dark hall. The darkness reminded her too much of the nightmare.
She walked aimlessly down the hall until she heard the faint sound of a piano playing. She froze. She was standing outside of the huge room where they had all their instruments and practiced vocals and music. It was sound proof so whoever was in there must have left the door open a crack. Jesy pushed it open and light bathed her face as the he same song she just heard in her dream came blasting at her.
She shoved the door closed behind her and stepped in to see Leigh-Anne playing the song on piano with an intense focus while the puppy cried in the corner of the room.
"Leigh?" She asked startling her best friend.
Leigh-Anne stopped playing all together and turned to look at Jesy. "Why are you up Jes?" She asked with a fake smile.
Jesy was now officially grumpy. "I'm looking for you is what I'm doing up." She all but snapped.
Leigh-Anne flinched at the slight hostility. "Sorry for worrying you but like I said before Jes . . . you don't have to worry about me. I'm fine."
