Two days later Nicki was sitting in a chair next to her own bed feeding Perrie breakfast.

Perrie seemed to be doing better.  She was awake and alert but very pale. Her fever was gone but she had a cough and felt generally weak.  It was a huge improvement from Monday when she had the seizure and yesterday where she'd slept all day and stayed awake coughing for a good bit of the night.

"Aww baby you scared me half to death." Nicki said putting a spoon of cereal to the nine year old's mouth.

"Sorry Mummy." Perrie said softly taking the food in her mouth.

"You don't have to apologize baby. I was just so worried.  It was terrifying to watch . . . especially when you had that seizure.  Ohhh baby.  I hope it never happens again." Nicki shook her head.  She wasn't sure if she would be able to survive watching Perrie have another seizure like that.

Perrie yawned. "I hope it doesn't happen again too Mam."  She accepted more cereal from the spoon.  It was the first time she was able to eat a proper meal in the past two days.  She was starving but food still wasn't very appealing.

"Aww my poor wittle lambchop.  I just want you to be better Perrie." Nicki cooed.

"Mam . . . I was soo sleepy yesterday." Perrie said a tad bit droopily. "I had a dream." She yawned.

"You did?  What was it about Pez?" Nicki asked encouragingly.  She needed Perrie to finish eating before she went back to sleep.  The poor kid looked tired already even though she just woke up.  She knew Perrie liked to talk about her dreams so she hoped that that would keep her awake.

Perrie nodded accepting the last of her cereal. "My favouritest pink Barbie doll was sitting in a ring of fire." Perrie yawned again. "The flames had engulfed her and then there was laughter.  it was scary." Perrie pouted.

"Aww babe.  I'm sorry." Nicki said handing Perrie a wedge of an orange.

"She'll be fine though . . ." Perrie said yawning. "But it was still scary." She started eating the orange slowly.

Nicki observed as Perrie slowly finished all four of the orange wedges as she handed them to her.  Nicki handed her a cup of water. Perrie had been doing so well this morning that Nicki had started to hope that her illness had run it's course but then the little blonde's hands began shaking as if the cup was far too heavy for her.

"Pez?" Nicki asked gently taking the cup.  She was paranoid that Perrie might be going into another seizure.

Perrie yawned and shivered. "I'm cold . . . I want to sleep Mam."

"Okay Pez but you can't sleep yet baby.  You just ate.  I don't want you to throw everything up.  Let's try to go for a little walk.  Do you think you could manage that?" Nicki asked.

Perrie yawned.  She nodded. "Okay Mam . . . let's walk."

Nicki helped her off the bed and holding her hand, walked her slowly out of the room. "We can go see Leigh, Jes and Luke. You'd like that right baby?"

Perrie nodded.

"Okay so we missed yesterday since you were taking care of Jesy but today you have a visitor Leigh-Anne." Garvin said later that morning.  "And this time we have someone interesting."

"Who is it?" Leigh-Anne aske as she made little circles with her forefinger on Jesy's cheek.  Sophie had made Jesy take a CT scan and an MRI scan.  Both showed that her brain was not badly damaged but she was suffering from a pretty bad concussion.
