Warning the outsiders and winning Johnny cade

Chapter six

I woke to the sound of two bit teasing johnny.
"Johnnycakes finally got himself a girl! What happened last night huh?" He said with a  smirk.
"Nothin two we were just talkin lay off." But Johnny couldn't help but smile.
I sat up.
"Great job two bit you woke her up."
"naw it's alright. Hey what day is it?"
"Saturday mornin and you two slept late. C'mon lets go to the Curtis house for football."
Two bit said
Johnny responded "yeah we usually play Saturday mornings. It's kinda a thing we do. Is that all right?"
"Yeah it's fine I'll cheer you on."
With that us three started walkin back to the Curtis'. I watched them play for awhile. Pony and Johnny were good together. After the game we all just hung out around the house and I got to know everyone better. After awhile I finally said,
"I'm probably gonna need some new clothes."
First of all I looked weird not wearing anything that anyone else was wearing neither greasers or socs. Second the blood stained shirt was starting to stink.
"Yeah sure I'm busy right now but you and johnnycakes can go to the store." Ponyboy said.
Darry started to pull out money. I suddenly remembered I had ten dollars in my pocket. I always do. Just in case. So I said.
"No I think I have some money from the other day but thank you Darry. Amd good idea pony. Johnny do you mind if we go?"
"It'll be fun." Johnny said
Johnny gave me his jeans jacket since it was a little cold and it's be weird to walk around with a blood stained shirt. I asked if he was sure and he nodded. So off we went walkin down the streets talkin havin fun. Skipping half the time running just being silly. It was a lot of fun until six socs got out of a mustang and were peaking right behind us. Closer then comfortable.
"Just act cool." I whispered
I grabbed johnnys hand and we walked closer and faster. I could see what pony boy meant. The fear in johnnys eyes. The shaking of his hand. But besides that he looked totally normal and tough. He wasn't gonna let them know he was scared.
"It's gonna be okay Johnny."
But right as i finished  saying that one of the socs yelled,
"Hey greaser!"
We just ignored them. Until they spread out so there was two socs in every direction.
"You listen to us when we talk to you!"
"Yeah" Johnny said
"I'm confused as to why a chick would ever wanna get near you."
They laughed.
"Don't talk to Johnny that way. He's the best person anyone could have and I'm lucky to even be near him."
Johnny blushed.
"Now listen we're not looking for a fight. You're in our territory and it's bright daylight anyway so don't even think about hurtin us unless you wanna get hurt. Watch it. Just stop please." I added
They laughed for some reason.
"Look at the little chick trying to stick up for the dirt. And trying to scare us too. That's funny."
They all stepped closer and I got closer to Johnny. Before i knew it someone punched Johnny and I got a pop bottle from the ground and hit it across the fence. Johnny backed up and got his switchblade out. We were back to back pointing out our weapons and turning around in slow circles. The socs got scared and hopped back into their car and drove away.
"Whew that was close" Johnny said
"Yeah. Are you okay?"
"I'm good."
We finished walking to the store. We had a fun time looking around. I got the closest thing I could find to navy blue skinny jeans. A black tank top and a blue jeans jacket kinda like johnnys. I got a pair of tennis shoes too. All that was only $8.99.
"Do I look like I fit in now?"
"Perfect"
The rest of the day was a lot of fun we just walked around town and then hung out at the Curtis'. I fell asleep on the couch. I was so tired Johnny woke me up and whispered
"I'm going home just so you know so don't wonder where I am."
"Okay" I whispered back.
I was so tired I wasn't thinking.
