Chapter twenty three (time jump)

I woke up in my room hoping I was the first one up. I hated having to do the dishes. And I actually enjoyed cooking. I walked into the kitchen Aw great Darry was up.
"Dar bearrrrr can I please cook?"
"Fine but I get extra cake."
"Ugh okay whatever"
I smiled Darry was always the funniest to beg. Around a year ago they let me move into pony boys old room. I made everyone's breakfast and soda and pony finally woke up. I set the table and sat down. They sat down.
"You guys sure slept in today."
I said laughing
"What do you expect? It's the weekend" Ponyboy replied
"And it's my first day off from work in forever." Soda added.
"Okay just get ready fast."
"For what?"
"Me and Anne are walking around town looking at the small shops and cool stuff today wanna come pony?"
"Naw it's not really my thing but thanks."
Sodapop is my best friend of the group. It used to be pony but now it's soda, we just click. Most of the time people think we're dating when we we walk around we're so close. But no. And they're all my best friends. Really they are. But soda is different. He understands me even sometimes when Johnny can't. And it's great I work with him too.
Soda was eighteen nineteen in a few months and I was only seventeen. But it really didn't matter. People thought we were twins sometimes. I changed a lot in the last almost two years got a lot prettier (not bragging just comparing from other years).

"Soda come outside when your done I'm gonna go talk to Johnny."
"Okay."
I went outside. I was massively in love with Johnny Cade. We've been dating for about two years and no ones done anything to hurt the other. We have a lot of history. We still haven't gotten real intimate or dirty with eachother. Farthest it ever went was a few neck kisses. There was a few times Johnny anted to go a lot farther but I said no. Johnny got a lot taller and bigger. I came out the door and there he was on the ground. He put his arms out to catch me and I jumped off the porch into his hands.
"Hey darling did you have a good sleep?"
"Yes Mr Cade did you?"
He smiled in response.
We talked for a while twirling around. We kissed and that's when soda came out.
"Woah what did I walk into?"
Soda joked around.
"Hey Sodapop."
Johnny said. I said
"Shut up soda and get in the car."
laughing at him and throwing him the keys.
I said bye to Johnny and off we went. Me and Sodapop first stopped at the gas station saying hi to Steve and buying a Coke. Then we swung by buck Merrills to find dally. He wanted to borrow my switchblade. We then went to cherry's house. Her parents know me by now and is good with the whole poor greaser thing it took a while but there was nothing they could do about it because we were best friends. Me cherry and Mary. They were really good people. That's actually why we went to Cherri's. Cherry Mary and I had a sleepover the other day and I forgot my wallet so I had to pick it up.
By then we were hungry so we went out to eat. i just got fries and a milk shake.
"So how's things going with Lisa?"
"Eh I don't know I just don't think we're right for each other."
"I get it. Are you going to Karen's party tonight?"
"I don't know, are you?"
"Yeah johnnys going too. I think I can get some of the other gang to come too. I heard. the party's supposed to be big. Plus there's gonna be a lot of cute girls for youu."
I've been trying to hook Sodapop up since Sandy but it hasn't really worked.
"How bout I go to the party if you come to this drag race with me and we'll only be a little late to the party."
"Deal."
After we ate we walked around town looking at cool things and small shops it was a lot of fun. I told Johnny to go to the party without me that I'd be there later. We got ready to watch the race. And I'm not gonna lie it was a lot of fun.
Finally we got home from the race and changed for the party. Then we raced to her house. We came inside and there was music and people dancing and drinking everywhere. It was so crowded. I didn't see Johnny anywhere. But I knew he was here. I walked around with Sodapop for a while and then walked away to let him talk to a girl. I found dally he pressured me into playing beer pong which he knew I hate because I hate the taste of beer but I played a round making sure not to get drunk. Two bit had a crowd and was making jokes so I stood over there for a while until going out and dancing with cherry. Sodapop came up to me and said he was going home that he was tired and I said it was okay I'd either walk home or ride with someone else. I saw Ponyboy and talked to him for a while and I kept asking where Johnny was.
"Oh yeah I think he's in a room he said he was tired."
"Yeah im pretty tired too ill get him and we can go home."
I went upstairs to the bedrooms and heard nothing but moans from all the doors and thought Johnny couldn't be in a room they were all occupied with couples. So I checked everywhere for him even called soda and asked for him to check the lot and the park and he wasn't there. It was getting late around two.
I finally checked the bedrooms. First one random people, second one random people, third one random pe- Johnny was in bed with another girl. Their clothes were on the ground and they were doing the dirty. When I opened the door his head turned up and his eyes locked with mine. I could see the guilt flood his eyes and he started to say something but I slammed the door shut loud and started balling my eyes out. I didn't care what I looked like right then I ran down stairs through the people and ran home as fast as I could. This party was on the other side of town but it didn't matter. I still ran and ran and didn't stop. I couldn't stop crying. I want think I was only think get to soda, soda will fix things. I finally got home and ran inside not even shutting the door behind me or saying hi to Darry. I ran into soda and ponys room. It was good pony wasn't back yet. Soda was sitting on his bed and I jumped on it balling my eyes out.
Soda held me. "It's okay what happened Anne. What's the matter?"
"Joh- Johnny cheated on me"
I couldn't steadily breath just cry and gasp for air and have soda rock me back and fourth. He was as shocked as I was.
"Anne I had no idea he'd do this. He's not that kind of person. I'm so sorry"
I went on not listening to soda.
"I thought he loved me. I thought this was real. Two years tw-two years. But apparently I'm not good enough, I'm I'm never good enough, why am I even here everyone hates me, I'm not good enough for anyone."
"Shhhhhhh don't say that Anne you are good enough. You're great. Nobody hates you. It's his loss"
"I thought he loved me!"
I started crying more
"It's not your fault. He's not good enough for you."
"But but he cheated! And and he went farther with her! He was having sex with her! And we didn't do anything close to that! Not that I want to but him, why did he have to do that! I loved him and he did this to me I thought he loved me!"
I was still sobbing and my voice quivering. I was practically yelling too.
"Shh you're okay. Johnny did a horrible thing and I'm mad at him too. You're okay." He held and hugged me. Darry eventually came in knowing what happened because of the yelling and crying.We all talked and talked.
