Chapter twelve

"Guys we need to take this seriously. Johnny and dally might die if you don't listen to me. So please just do it. I don't want anyone getting hurt and if I sound like I'm a party pooper or bossy or somethin I'm sorry. I'm just really worried. Like when I blew up on ponyboy. I just can't stand to see you guys hurt. Okay?"
"Okay."
Everyone replied.
"I'll listen but I still wanna go huntin for some action tomorrow night."
"Fine. But we're going with you. Darry you can still go to work and Steve you can still go to the game with evie."
He was surprised I knew but I went on.
"Sodapop I'm expecting you're not going with Steve anymore since the Sandy thing. So come with us. Two bit don't get boozed up tomorrow night, just come with us. If anything does end up happening we need as many people as we can. Dally, you say you're gonna listen but I know you. do. not. do. what. I. say. not. to. do."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah" he replied.
"And Darry if anyone does stay out late. Don't lose your temper. Okay? And nobody go alone. Or even in groups of two. Stay in groups of three and we'll be okay. Guys I bet if we even just not sit behind Cherry and Marcia nothing bad will happen. But let's be careful."
I paused.
"If we follow those steps we'll be okay. Besides that lets have fun! It's gonna be my first drive in movie with you guys!!!!"

With that I grabbed johnnys hand and we started walking.
"Where are we going?" Johnny asked.
"I don't know I just wanna walk."
"thank you. For being so worried about us. It's cute. But you are really sweet."
"Aw thank you Johnny. I'm sorry if I'm going overboard. I know I am. But I don't know Johnny that book just can't come true. I know it won't if I have you guys listen to me. but.... But Johnny I'm scared, I'm terrified. I'm terrified of losing you. I'm afraid. Johnny I'm so afraid of losing you and I won't be able to take it. I won't. If it happens I won't stop crying. For years and decades and Johnny I love you. I love you so much and don't know what else to do or say toe how you I love you. Johnny I'm just so scared."
I couldn't help it I started crying. He sat me down by a near tree and held me.
"I love you Anne. I love you. Don't worry. It's okay. I'll listen to you. I'll try not to get hurt. I'll be careful. We can do whatever you want tomorrow. We don't even have to go to the movie if you don't want. I love you and I don't want you worrin. You're safe with me. And I'm safe with you. We're gonna be okay. So stop worrying about me. Okay? I love you. It's gonna be okay."
We held eachother the rest of the night. Talking about anything and everything. It got dark. We didn't care about anyone but each other right then. We didn't care about the world. We just sat and talked. I got tired I snuggled up in his arms and eventually slowly fell asleep.
I woke up to Johnny stroking my arm.
"hey, anne."
he said slowly quietly and tiredly.
"We gotta get ready for school and work."
"emmhhm."
I said with my eyes barely open. I forced then open.
"ugh fineeee."
I whined. He smiled. He helped me up and put hi arm around my shoulder. I snuggled in as we were walking and put my arm around his back. It was really cold. We walked back tithe Curtis' and said our goodbyes as two bit drove Pony, Mary, Steve and Johnny to school and Darry drive me and soda to work.
It was a good day. I understand why soda loves working there. Only bad side is when the socs are customers but that's not very usual because this is our territory. Me and soda talked about a lot of stuff.
After work and school we all hung out for awhile waiting for soda to come home. from work and take a shower. Then dally, Johnny, ponyboy, two bit, sodapop, and I messed around, around town then walked over to the Nightly Double.
