Jerome's POV: Playing 20 questions

"God why are you so righteous?! You had the opportunity to let them burn and you offered for me to kill you instead! You aren't a hero Katerina!" My fists balled up in frustration and slammed them on the mattress. She immediately flinched and looked at me fearfully.

Katerina was way too righteous for her own good, I mean who does she think she is, some type of super hero? She reminded me all too much of that detective. What was his name? Ah! Jim Gordon, that's right.

"I'm sorry." She apologised as if any of this was her own fault, why the hell is she apologising.

"Stop apologising!" I lost my temper completely,  I leant forward so far that I could smell the coconut conditioner she used. The smell calmed me enough to continue as I lowered my voice. "You don't have to apologise for everything, trust me when you realise that life is a whole lot more interesting." My voice dropped to a whisper as she stared back at me like a deer in the headlights.

"Sorry. Wait oh sor- I mean I uh oh god sorry." Her eyes widened as she realised the mistake she'd made. "Oh wait, god I'm so stupid sor-" I stopped her before she could make it worse for herself.

"Oh my god you are hopeless just stop before you say something even more stupid." I leant back as I chuckled at her being flustered. She looked to her hands as her face began to glow red. "Are you blushing? You are turning the same colour as your hair." I continued to laugh as her face got even redder of that was even possible. The redder she became the more amusing the situation was.

"You're making it worse!" She stated as she dug her head into a pillow, the only thing in my view was her bright coloured hair. "Don't look at me." She added, the sound significantly muffled by the pillow. I took a second to just take a good look at her, her face squished into the pillow as she squeaked in embarrassment.

"Don't be like that, didn't you say red was your favourite colour?" As soon as the words left my mouth with a sly grin she removed the pillow from her still red face as she glared at me. I couldn't possibly take her seriously as she resembled that of an angry chipmunk.

"Not in this situation." She pouted and my grin just got wider. She was quite adorable.

"Well I think red is a great colour on you." I joked and she rolled her eyes at me. I felt my jaw tense and leant forward again. "Remember what I said about your eyes." I warned and she took no time in moving further away from me. I watched as she lost her grip and she slipped from the bed and before she even knew it she was on the floor. I completely lost it, I was crying in laughter as I watched her in a pile on the floor.

"It's not funny!" She groaned and I laughed even harder. This was almost as funny as the time we threw those people off the building! I laughed so hard as I peered over the bed to look at her but I fell over as well. I landed right next to her and watched as she too erupted in uncontrollable laughter.

Wow. That laugh. Now THAT was something.

"Now that was funny!" I exclaimed but she didn't even reply because she was laughing so hard. I sat up and made my way over to the door, gesturing for her to do the same. She slowly picked herself up from the floor and followed me out the door.

We entered the living room where Tabitha and Barbra were testing their toys on the mayor. I'm not a massive fan of whips, I prefer knives but they are still quite fun to play with from time to time. "Hello ladies!" I announced and got the reply I anticipated.

"What do you want Jerome? Do you have to bring her with you like some lap dog." Tabitha hissed at me and her eyes flickered to Katerina. I felt my jaw tense slightly and my fists clench as I tried to keep cool.

"She's pretty entertaining,  and the only girl in this whole place that'll actually talk to me." I glanced over to Katerina who looked terrified by the whole situation. What's new? She's always scared.

"That's cause she has to." Tabitha retorted, putting a hand on her hips like she was all that! HA she think's just cause she's an assassin that she is top dog.

"That's not true is it Katerina?" I looked over to see her literally shaking. In a cute way. "You love talking to me don't you?" I looked down at her and she looked ready to die on the spot.

"Of course." She responded without a second of hesitation and I gave her a wink.

"See? You're just jealous because Barbra here is too hooked on Jim to realise you like her." Tabitha's eyes grew murderous and I couldn't help the smirk that grew on my lips.

"That's not true." She ground out and I knew that I'd hit a sensitive place.

"Isn't it? Cause that's what it looked like." The more I continued the more agitated she got and I loved it.

"Jerome, please don't push it." I heard Katerina whisper to me and I saw Tabitha's attention shift to her.

"Yeah Jerome, any further and I might have to wrap my whip around your girlfriend's neck." I felt my blood boil slightly as she threatened Katerina.

"How bout I take Katerina and you two sort this out? Preferably before Theo gets back I don't want to have to sit through another 'we are a team' speeches okay?" Barbra interrupted the argument just as it was getting good. I was about to tell her that I'd rather Katerina stay and watch but before I even got a word out she had whisked her out of my sight and down a hallway to what I presumed was her room.

I turned back to Tabitha with a sinister grin on my face and she looked dead serious. "What's wrong Tabby? Upset that you can't get a girl like me?" I taunted and she gritted her teeth.

"Oh I should take a page out of your book and kidnap a girl against her will and force her to spend time with me. How's that working out for you Jerome? Don't even try to deny the fact that everything she says to you is out of fear, I could practically smell it off her as she came in." A sinister smile graced my lips as I scanned the area for a weapon.

"She loves me, she just doesn't know it yet." I replied simply.

"Wake up you psycho! She will never love you, every time she says she even remotely can stand you it's because if she doesn't you'll kill her! She'll escape the minute she can and you know it!" Tabitha exclaimed with a smirk.

I found a knife on the kitchen bench and made my way towards it. I held it for a second before looking back at Tabitha, I knew my eyes looked crazed but she didn't seem fazed.

"Tell you what Tabitha..." I strolled close to her and she didn't even flinch, not nearly like Katerina does. "I guarantee you that without a doubt she loves me and if you ever threaten her again well you can guess what I'd do." I warned her, now standing behind her and she just stood there still.

"I'm not scared of you, you psychotic imbecile." She snarled as she elbowed me in the ribs and kicked my side. I laughed as I hit the ground and she spat on me before walking away. "Have fun playing hostage." She called as she strolled through the doorway.
