Chapter 19 – Blank & White

I smiled as I looked around my room…in a few days it wouldn’t be my room anymore. Yep, I was moving in with Marilyn…bout bloody time too I thought. We are engaged after all. I’d boxed up everything downstairs and given all the things I knew I no longer needed to a local charity. I was doing well.

I heard the front door unlock and my sisters called out to me. “Shan!”

“Up here.” I called back as I walked across the hall into what I called my ‘office’…but was really just a space for my inner fangirl to, well…fangirl. I hadn’t let anyone in here. It was my space. But I had to pack it up now. I smirked as I looked at all my Marilyn Manson memorabilia. I wondered how Marilyn would feel if he’d seen this…

“Shan…holy cow!” I turned and smiled as Ash came into the room. “When did you find the time and money to do all this?!” she gaped at the room. “Oh my God Yu-Gi-Oh! Cosentino! Buffy! Tim Minchin! Russell Brand! Mighty Boosh… Motionless in White…” she looked at me and rolled her eyes. “Seriously? You’re dating him and still have all this?”

“Hey, I owned all this before I’d ever met him.” I mock fumed, but I shrugged. “It’s part of who I am…”

“I suppose I get that.” Ash nodded as Jess joined us.

“Wow…” she grinned as she looked around.

“Yeah.” Ash smiled back at her.

“Oh…Marilyn’s here…” Jess smirked. “Should we start hiding this?”

“Hiding what? WOW!” Marilyn’s jaw dropped as he leant against the doorframe, smirking wickedly. “How come I didn’t know about all this?”

I shrugged and smiled coyly. “All I can say is…” he raised an eyebrow at me, eyes glinting with mischief. “You knew I was a fan the night I met you.”

He nodded as he came over and kissed my forehead. “True.”

“How did you guys meet?” Ash asked with a smirk. “We’ve never heard the story.”

“I’d love to hear that one.” Jess chuckled and began using a news-readers voice.. “Sarcastic Shan meets rocker Manson on a dark night at…” she paused and smiled. “Three in the morning?”

“Close.” I made a face at her as Ash and I began packing different pieces of memorabilia into boxes. I looked at Marilyn. “Should we tell them?”

Marilyn smirked and ruffled Jess’s hair. “Maybe when your older.”

“One night stand that was too good to pass up Shan?” Jess laughed as I threw a cushion at her.

“No…but it was a little…” I looked at Marilyn as I search for the right word. “Odd…”

“Oh well,” Ash smiled brightly. “New life. Blank slate…oh, hey!” she turned and looked at us with mock realisation. “Blank and White!”

“I’m surprised you remember any names to his songs.” I laughed lightly but sobered as a familiar feeling set in. Just like me…blank and white…

We were back at the airport. My sisters and I were crying as we said our goodbyes. I hugged them close, silently cursing the paparazzi that had followed us here and were snapping pictures every three seconds. The final call for their flight came over the terminals intercom and I had to let them go.

“I’ll come home soon and see you.” I promised as they began walking away.

“Oh, so you don’t know…” Ash smiled a bit as she looked past me at Marilyn. “We’re coming back for your wedding…he’s telling you the date when you get home…or is now!”

I smiled. “Okay, I’ll see you soon then…now go! Or you’ll miss your plane!” I waved them off, smiling sadly.

As Marilyn and I watched the plane roll along the runway and take off I leant back into his embrace. “So…you picked a date.”

I felt his lips brush against me hair. “Yes.” I felt his arms tighten around me a little. “June…” he paused, so I nudged him slightly. “Twenty ninth…”

I frowned. “My mum’s birthday?”

He chuckled as we walked out of the airport and slipped into his car. “The night we met…”

I smirked and looked at my engagement ring. "Oh yeah..."
