The week has gone by normally, go to school, go to recreation time and then go to sleep, not mentioning how many times I have to put my ID card into the machine.
"Annabella Kate Richards," the woman's electronic voice says. "You are 16, you have blue eyes and blonde hair, your shape is a half diamond." The machine reports. "Would you like to report anything?"
I say no every time.
Tomorrow is my seventeenth birthday, tomorrow my necklace will become a flame or as cold as ice. But, what if it turns out like Carson's necklace? What if it just stays warm, even the system couldn't do anything. They said that his other half is somebody who has not turned seventeen yet, that until his other half turns seventeen his necklace will stay warm neutral, if his other half is close. Or the necklace will stay cold neutral if the other half isn't close.
His stayed warm neutral. I wonder who his other half is? What if I know her!?
Tonight I have to set everything out for my birthday. My mom insists that I decorate, so I do. I put neon green and blue balloons around our small compact. I put our one table cloth on the small round kitchen table.
In the bedroom, I grab my one casual dress, it is a short olive green T-shirt dress. It is almost too small. But this is all I have, I will wear this tomorrow during the day, I lay it on the small table next to my bed.
I walk out of the bedroom and decide to help my mom and dad cook for tomorrow. Since we are inviting Carson and Carlin's family we had to order double the amount of food we usually eat from the store. Which cost my mom a lot, and my dad to work overtime for a month. They still insisted. I still don't, but it's too late now.
"Will you make the smoothie for me?" My mom asks me.
"Sure. " I take the fruit out of the store bags and put in the blender. I then add some milk and yogurt to the blender and press the button. Slowly, the mix turns into the smoothie drink for tomorrow. MMM! A little splatters on my System uniform: plain pants, plain shirt.
After I put the smoothie in the fridge I decide to head to bed. I can barley function with the thought of being able to find my other half tomorrow. I go into the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. I put my sandy blonde hair into a messy bun and walk into my room.
Once I am in my pajamas, I pull down the covers on my bed. I climb in to bed, but I can't fall asleep. I keep fiddling with my necklace on my chest. The silver crystals reflecting on the ceiling. The reflection reminds me of Carson, how he felt on this day, how he was so excited and then let down. I guess he had no one to do this with, at least I can do it with Carlin.
I wonder what Carlin is thinking, we are both afraid our friendship might be ruined because of the travels we may have to go on to find our other half. Nothing should sewerage us, but the worry still lies underneath our minds.
As I drift to sleep I here my mom and dad come in to get ready for bed. I make out a few words before I shut my eyes:
"Will she have to leave us?" My mom asks worried like.
"She will do what she has to, Carolin, she will and we can trust Andy," my dad responds, "I had to go across the country for you, and I am not going to stop her from finding her other half. Andy needs her other half." My dad finishes and I slip into sleep.-------------------
Finished editing this! I think... suggestions??
Thanks for reading! So that was a bit longer of a chapter! But it was still really short...
By the way, Andy is Annabella's nickname. Thanks so much for reading this far!
