Peeta's POV
I roam my eyes around the room in search for Katniss. I just lost sight of her minutes ago when she went to say hello to a fellow buddy of mine, I turned my back to her for a second then she was gone. She hadn’t looked well when I left her, now I worry.
I sighed, and mentally groaned, as more people came to congratulate me on the engagement and how happy they were seeing Katniss and me with so much joy. I thanked them, not all of them for there was too many, and excused myself from the crowd.
I searched every floor for her before walked out of the building frustrated as she hid from me. I found her moments later, Katniss was sitting on top a step of many. I climbed down them and at sat myself besides her.
"Are you okay?" I ask. She nods. Her head is hung low, keeping her face from my eyes. The shadows from the light behind us hid her features so well, whatever I tried to look at was black."What's wrong?" I ask again, I knew she wasn’t okay, she would not be out here if she was. I hear her sniffle and she shakes her head.
"Come on, please,” I beg in a whisper. Katniss shakes her head again, but finally looks up. Her eyes are pink and puffy, her cheeks were tear stained and the makeup plastered on her face is smudged and smeared. Why is she crying? She wipes her eyes and cheeks with her hands and stood up. I follow her and help her to the door, keeping my hand on her back and arm.
"I'm sorry,” she whispers and runs inside. I go after her. What is upsetting her so much she is crying and doesn’t want my help?
I follow her up many sets of stairs and past many different colored doors. Why is she running? What is she running from if not me? I finally catch up to her, which took much out of me. My leg began to hurt when I first started running. Once I reached her, I noticed we were both out of breathe.
"What's wrong?" I ask, demanding for an answer. She looks at up me and bursts into tears more painful to see tears.
"I-can't,” she manages to say behind a face full of tears.I ask, “You can't what?"
She is breathing quickly now. "C-can't. I-I need h-help,” she says, hyperventilating. I nod, slightly understanding her troubles, and hug her. I take her into a spare room by us and she sits on my lap while I sit myself on the bed with the lights off.
She explains how Gale didn't come and how angry he seemed when she told him. How he's probably extremely vexed at her. I grow angry at Gale for putting her in this situation but I keep myself calm. He is her best friend, and should be there for her even when he does not agree with her obligated choices.
She tells me that everything had been put upon her to do, to control, to play right. That she is now protecting everyone she loves and does not know. I try to decline this but she cried harder in my chest, telling me that she can't let me get hurt more than I have gotten. Or anyone else in the fact.I am confused for a second until I realize. My leg.
I nod and I sooth her, rubbing her back and kissing her head softly as she continues explaining to me her problems and worries. I rock her back and forth until she is calm and her breathing begins to go back to normal.
"How about her get away from the party and head home?” I ask. She vigorously nods and I help her out of the house of the mayor towards our homes in the Victor’s Village*
Author's Note:
I love fixing these chapters and reading them. I’m just like aww I used to such at this big time. Then they just annoy me completely some times.
Who remembers Big Time Rush from like four years ago? If you don’t you had like such a horrible childhood and it’s too late for you now. It also means you are toooo young to be reading fanfiction. Excuse me on my ranting.
Keep reading guys!
