The Reunion
By July second, I was the only one who knew George wasn’t George. No one believed me and refused to ask him questions that George would know. Jude was just telling me that I just didn’t want to believe George would cheat on me. He didn’t believe that I could tell the difference between George and fake George just by a kiss. I told him he’d know the difference between Lucy and a fake Lucy but he still didn’t believe me. After that, I just kind of gave up on trying to get people to believe me and focused on acting like everything was ok and trying to find George. I hadn’t gotten a lead yet but I hoped I’d find out something soon.
On the second, George and I were going to the first reunion at Hogwarts that was for everyone who has graduated. Jude and Lucy were gonna watch the kids for us while we went. They were even watching Melinda and Alex for Ben and Jenna. The Great Hall was packed with witches and wizards who have graduated from Hogwarts. Everyone from my year was there and others that I went to Hogwarts with then there were others I didn’t recognize. “George” and I were sitting at a table with Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Harry, Ben, Jenna, Lee, Katie, Neville, Luna, Dean, Parvati, Padma, Seamus, and Lavender. We were talking and eating the feast that was set up for us. “George” wasn’t talking much and I knew why. He didn’t know any of what we were talking about.
After a while, we were all up and talking while The Weird Sisters played in the background. I was over at the punch bowl getting some punch and Ron and Ginny were with me since we were talking. Hermione was talking to Cho and Harry was getting some Squirt. There was a ton of it and it seemed like he was the only one to like it. “George” was with Lee and I was wondering how their conversation was going. Ginny looked over at me and asked, “What’s up with George?”
I looked at her and said, “That’s not George.”
“Here we go again.” Ron groaned.
“It’s true.” I glared at him. “Just watch.” I looked over at “George” and said, “George! Come here!”
“George” walked over to me and I said, “We were just talking about that time you and Fred turned Ginny into something but we couldn’t remember what it was.” I lied and smiled at him. “What was it again?”
He looked befuddled and he rubbed his neck. “It was a duck. We turned her into a duck.”
That was wrong and we all knew it. I just smiled and said, “Right. Thanks, Georgie. You can go back to talking to Lee.” He smiled and walked away from me. I looked at Ron and Ginny and said, “See.”
“Turned me into a duck?” Ginny said; surprised. “And he didn’t even laugh. He always laughs when telling that story.”
“I told you it’s not him. He barely remembers the kids’ names. He doesn’t even know Lilly, Albus, James, Hugo, or Rose.” I took a drink of my punch.
“Ok, so what do we do?” Ron asked.
“Get Harry, Hermione, Lee, Katie, Ben, Jenna, Luna, Neville, and anyone else. I’ll get George distracted by Oliver or Angelina but get them to the Room of Requirement and we’ll talk about it.” I downed the rest of my punch and walked over to “George”.
It took a half hour to get him into a conversation with Oliver Wood. I snuck away from them and headed out of the room and went up to the seventh floor of Hogwarts. The Room of Requirement door appeared in the wall and I opened the door and went in. Ginny, Ron, Harry, Hermione, Lee, Katie, Ben, Jenna, Luna, Neville, Seamus, Parvati, Padma, Dean, and Lavender were all up there waiting for me. The room was decorated the same way it was when we were using it for Dumbledore’s Army and that’s exactly what walking into the room reminded me of. The door closed behind me and everyone looked at me.
“We told them what happened.” Ron said and looked at Harry.
“What do we know about the intruder?” Harry asked and stood up.
“Nothing really.” I answered truthfully. “Just that they’re trying to break George and I up.”
“And you have no idea who it is?” Seamus asked.
“No. I’ve been trying to figure that out and where the real George is and acting like everything is ok and I haven’t figured out anything.”
Hermione came over to me and touched my arm. “We all believe you, Aria. And we’re gonna help figure out who’s doing this and why and we’ll find George.”
“We’ll figure out a stakeout at the shop so we’ll always know what the fake George is up to.” Lee said.
“And we’ll listen in on his conversations to see if he slips out any hint to anything.” Seamus added.
“We’re here for you, Aria.” Ben smiled. “We’ll do this together.”
I smiled back. “Thanks guys.”
We spent the next hour figuring out a plan for the upcoming week. Harry, Ron, Lee, Seamus, Dean, Neville, and Ben were going to get Jude and plan on who should watch “George” and who should look for the real one. The girls were helping the watch and we were all supposed to get out our Dumbledore’s Army coins for if we discovered anything so we could get together. When we were done, we joined the party and “George” was just finishing a conversation with Angelina. I smiled at him and took his head. “Let’s head home.” I said.
“Ok.” He smiled back and we left Hogwarts.
