I hesitated. "Nothing." "Stephanie, you can trust me. Please tell me everything," Katie pleaded. "I...I can't. I'm sorry." With that I walked off the couch and waited outside.
In the car, Katie was on her phone the whole time. She saw me looking at her and she gave a stare that read, "why didn't you tell me? I thought we were friends". I shrugged and before I could say something, we pulled up to 1st Class Gym.
"Hey, why did Katie give you that look in the car earlier?" Liv asked me as I opened my locker. "I'll tell you, but don't tell anyone else except Annie." I explained to Liv how Katie asked about what we did and now she's mad I didn't tell her. "That's so messed up. Tell me tell Annie," Liv said when I was finished.
Five minutes later, Annie and Liv came back. "I don't understand! Why would Katie do that?!" Annie sounded so furious. It wasn't that big of a deal, so I have no idea why Annie was making it a big deal. Just then, Katie came click-clacking with her crutches over to us. "Hey guys! What are you guys talking about?" Katie asked. "You. You ruined a friendship! Like what the heck Katie!" Annie blurted out. "What? What did I do?" "You and Stephanie are friends! Even if she didn't tell you what we did this morning!" Katie looked at me saying, "you told them?". I looked at my feet. I heard Katie coming closer to me. I looked up to see Katie drop her crutches and give me the "death stare". Then she punched me.
She punched me on the side of my stomach. "Katie what the heck?!?!?!" Liv screamed. When she punched me I fell back into my locker. "Are you okay, Steph?" Annie asked me concerned. "I'm... fine," I managed to say. It hurt so bad. Liv kept screaming at Katie and Katie kept looking at me saying, "I'm sorry". But how could I forgive her? She freaking punched me.
Annie and Liv were really worried about me. They would look at me every time I was about to do a tumbling pass or any gymnastic skill. I never seen Annie so pale, though. During lunch I went into the bathroom to check out my bruise.
It was purple, black, and blue. Ugh. It still hurt, a lot, though. Then I heard a door screech open. "Stephanie? Are you in here?" I heard Katie ask. Should I say anything? I kept telling myself no but these words came out shaky, "Yes." Oh my gosh why did I say yes? "Can you please come out?" Can I trust her? I don't think I can but I walked out anyways. "Look, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have punched you. I just don't like people hiding things from me, you know? That's how I lost my friendship with Arden. She kept so many secrets that I couldn't take it so we aren't friends. I just wanted to know. I don't want to lose you as a friend," Katie explained, sobbing. To be completely honest, I didn't want to lose Katie. "You already lost me, Katie." Did I seriously just say out loud? I walked out and instantly regretting it when I looked back and saw her sitting on the floor crying her eyes out.
