Chapter thirteen

Archangel Raphael's POV – right after Lily was killed

"Most impressive Stacy, you have held up your end of the bargain so now I will hold up mine." Michael smiled at Stacy who licked her lollipop, grinning from ear to ear, "You will be married to William in four days time, please take this time to plan and sort out everything. Someone will help plan and whatever you want, you shall have." He promised and she squealed before running off, thanking him repetitively.

He sat down sighing heavily looking towards the big doors and I understood why. Behind those doors were two babies that were the grandchildren of Lucifer making them our grandchildren. They were our family and when they were brought to us, no one had thought to do with them.

Killing them was out of the question, even Michael knew that. But we couldn't just let them grow up here and we couldn't put them back on Earth because Lucifer would undoubtedly find them.

"For the first time in my existences I do not know what to do." Michael mused and shook his head, "It's disturbing."

"I know the feeling brother." I stood up and stretched before waving him goodbye.

I was going to see William, the spell that Stacy had put on him was about to wear off and we had to make sure he was on lock down so he didn't hurt or worst kill anyone once he found out what had happened.

The dungeons were once full of the most wild and savage beasts used to live in these dungeons before Hell was created. It was the most scariest place to go and mothers would threaten their children by saying 'if you are naughty, I'll send ya to the dungeons' and that alone was enough to scare the child enough to wet themselves.

I walked to the very back and I walked in without knocking. "Is he almost awake?" I asked the doctor on duty and he nodded, frowning.

"Yes he is but he keeps murmuring the name Lily. It makes this process easier if-"

"Lily is no longer with us." I mutter to the good doctor and he nods understand and tightening the bondages on his wrists and ankles.

"Okay William, I am going to count back from five when I get to one you will wake up. You will not panic and you will not attack anyone. You will be calm. Five, four, three, two and one."

William's eyes shot open like a bat out of hell and his eyes immediately looking at me. He looked like he was having an internal battle with himself, one side clearly wanted to break the bondage and attack me and everyone else but the other wanted to be calm and not panic. Eventually he just took a deep breath.

"Where am I?"

"You are in Heaven William."

"Why?"

"That's a complicated question."

"No it isn't, just answer it before-" his jaw locked and he glared at the doctor while the doctor smile, clearly admiring his work. "Just answer it please Raphael."

I sighed, "Okay. Michael, you remember Michael, received the letter of surrender from Lucifer and didn't believe it, when you were brought into the light and sent to kill Lucifer, Stacy, a girl you trained with for a while, came in and told the council about you switching sides. Michael outrage wanted you dead, but Stacy reasoned saying that she would bring you back on two conditions."

"What were the conditions Raphael?"

"Look I think we should talk more in the morni-"

"WHAT WERE THE CONDITIONS?!" William shouted clearly losing his temper as rage burned through him and the doctor ran out of the room.

"The conditions were that you both were to be married and live in the Heavens for eternity and..." My throat got caught and I stopped looking down, a small tear running down my eye.

"And...?" William spoke through clenched teeth and I couldn't help but gulp.

"The last condition William," I spoke softly and slowly, "was that she would have the honours of killing Lily."

It was silent for a moment, neither of us moved or even dared to breathe. William looked at me, his eyes clearly in disbelief and his body shaking. I knew he was going to kill everyone and everything so I locked the door, making escape inevitable.

Suddenly the bondages snapped off his wrists and his ankles and his beautiful white wings broke free as he flew across the room, throwing me against the wall and his hand locking around my neck tightly.

"No! NO! YOU'RE LYING, TELL ME YOU ARE LYING PLEASE!" He screamed, his eyes filled with tears and misery. It was like watching the light go out in someones eyes, they weren't there anymore. He lost his will to live and it was our fault.

William cried, falling to the ground his wings circling him like a cloak as he sobbed into his hands crying out to his dead lover, the mother of his children.

I bent down, speaking softly, "I am sorry William." Before standing and taking my leave. As I closed the door and locked it I heard him speak. His voice was dead and flat like he'd never known happiness. It made me shiver uncomfortably.

"I won't marry her." He whispered and I turned to him looking through the slit in the door.

"William, you haven't got a choice." I muttered before walking down the hall and out of the dungeons. His cries and pleas for his dead love stabbing me with every step. I sent a silent pray to whoever would listen that William be okay. But even as I prayed these words, I knew it was inevitable. We'd done something so horrible, I think Warrior Cassandra was right.

We might as well call ourselves the devil.
