Angel's POV
"What are you talking about? Did someone hurt you? What's your name?" Meredith asks me. I inwardly roll my eyes at my stupidity. I know them, but they do not know me.
"I'm sorry for my rudeness, I forget sometimes that I do not know you personally, and you don't know of me at all." I reply "My name is Angela, but please call me Angel. I am Nia and Ivy's guardian, and I've been watching over them their whole lives. They are in grave danger, and I need you and your husband's assistance to try and get them back. I can explain more to both you and your husband."
"If you truly know Nia and Ivy, then you won't mind me asking some questions to test your knowledge before letting you into my home." Meredith states, staring at me cautiously.
"Of course, ask away."
"Who is Nia's best friend?"
"I'd say Saber. They have been friends for practically their whole lives, and are so close, they have a connection. But, their friendship blossomed into love, and they are in a relationship, so they're more than friends. Then, there's also Ivy herself, and Nia sees her as her best friend and her sister." Meredith nods, indicating I answered correctly.
"What did Nia do involving Saber when she was 16?" I think back and start to laugh at the memory. That day, it happened to be the day I watched over Nia, and I saw her jealousy in full force.
"There was a girl that dated everyone, and especially desired Saber. She acted very sweet and kind around Saber, so he couldn't see her true nature. But, as usual, Nia was always around Saber, and saw through her fake sweet smiles to the wickedness and calculation underneath. Nia is a very good judge of character, and guessed very accurately at the girl's true intentions."
I think for a moment, trying to remember her name. Then, I continue the story
"I believe her name is Michelle, if I remember correctly. Yes, definitely Michelle. But anyway Nia was very rude towards Michelle, and Saber could not see why, so he had a huge argument with Nia that nearly broke their friendship. Nia was so enraged at the fact that Michelle nearly became between her and Saber and wanted to hurt him, so Nia threatened Michelle. I could tell it was partly out of jealousy as well, Nia's feelings for Saber were growing and she didn't want anyone else to be with him, especially a girl like Michelle. Michelle looked so frightened when Nia threatened to rip her limb from limb!"
"Okay, you are definitely her guardian. Nia hasn't told anyone except me that story, she came home feeling so guilty, blubbering about what if her instincts were wrong and Michelle was actually a decent person and Nia scared her away from being near Saber through her jealousy. I of course told her it was ridiculous, that Michelle had a black heart, and she did the right thing." Meredith explains while letting me into the house.
"Meredith honey, who are you talking to?" Alaric calls down the stairs.
"It's Nia and Ivy's guardian, so get down here now!" Meredith commands in a loud, no nonsense voice. I giggle lightly, desperately trying to contain my laughter as Alaric rushes down the stairs, slightly scared of his wife's wrath. He walks over to Meredith and kisses her on the cheek, hugging her.
I want love like that with someone. Someone who's kind, and sweet, who will care for me and love me, protect me...
Flashes of orange eyes, a mischievous grin and his flickering flame colored hair run through my mind, and I chastise my mind. He doesn't love me, and my little crush will get me nowhere. He doesn't share my feelings, I know it. No point in trying.
"Who's this? Is this the guardian?" Alaric asks, curiosity paired with a slight threat in his voice.
"Yes, I am. My name is Angela, but please, call me Angel." I answer
"Prove it." He growls
"Alaric, calm down. I already know that she knows Nia and Ivy." Meredith says soothingly, but it does nothing to calm Alaric.
"So? That doesn't mean anything. I want her to prove that she is a guardian." Alaric retaliates and glares at me while I gulp. Taking a shaky breath in, I close my eyes and will my wings to come out. I feel them erupting from my back, causing me some discomfort. It used to hurt, but now I am simply used to it. I open my eyes once my wings are fully out and resting against my back calmly to see Meredith and Alaric gaping at my wings in shock and surprise.
"Okay, I believe you. What do you need from us?" Alaric asks
"Well..." I start off
Nia's POV
"But Cora, you promised blood!" Ivy whines in disappointment.
"That will come later, I promise. For now, you need to learn how to control your powers. Follow me." Cora demands, and strides quickly outside, allowing us to do nothing but follow.
"I've had these powers before, I don't need pointers." I grumble, annoyed that there isn't bloodshed. My body yearns to hear the screams of my victims and smell their blood slowly dropping from their body, dragging their life along with it.
"Oh, is that so? If you're so confident, show me what you can do." Cora sneers at me. I smirk and arrogantly reply
"What do you want me to do?"
"Copy me." She orders, and I watch carefully as she conjures darkness and earth into her palms, and does different things with the two elements as I copy each and every action flawlessly. Ivy moves to stand next to me and face Cora, watching us carefully and starting to try and mimic us. She quickly gets the hang of it, and we are controlling the two elements that have become part of us with great skill.
"Told you, I don't need your guidance. This is just like reuniting with an old friend." I say calmly and emotionlessly as I swirl the elements around in my palm, combining them and creating the first thing that comes to mind, a black rose. A memory that I had shoved to the back of my mind comes flying forward with full force, that day in the clearing with Amaro when I made a black rose then as well.
"Wow, how'd you do that?" Ivy exclaims, trying to do it as well.
"I don't know, I just did. I combined the powers to make something, and this is the first thing that came to mind." I say softly. Ivy desperately tries to mimic it, but it doesn't work. She glares at me with anger and jealously, since I am stronger with the Dark Earth Powers.
"Why are you stronger than me?" She roars
"It must be that I'm connected with this part of our heritage more than you. Don't forget that you can turn into a chimera, and I can't. You're more connected to the other half of our heritage than me." I explain, knowing deep inside that my prediction is correct. Ivy harrumphs and turns away from me
"Is it time for blood yet?" She asks
"If you want." Cora smiles evilly, staring at me with an unreadable emotion. We all walk back into the castle and into the judgement room with the blood stained floor. When we are all situated in our spots, Cora calls out to one of the servants
"Bring the prisoners."

Author's Note:
So, yet another weird and kind of filler chapter. But don't worry, it's all leading up to the big finale. I'm sorry if it seems boring now, and that I made Nia so disturbing. To be honest, not really sure where that came from... Also, to be honest, I was planning for the next chapter to be in the middle of the week, but then I started writing and decided to put it at the end of the week. It's more fun that way 😈
Question:
Anyway, who's your favorite couple of this series?
I gotta say that my favorite is
Nia x Saber or #Naber for the ship name 😉😊
If you want to think of ship names for the other couples, go ahead! I'd love to hear them!
