The door to the hospital room opened, and Dr. Leto pushed Brendon inside, where Dallon sat anxiously. He stood up as soon as the wheelchair was through the door.

"Just as I expected; appendicitis." Dr. Leto spoke, stopping the wheelchair beside Brendon's hospital bed. Brendon didn't speak, he just sat somewhat curled up in his wheelchair, with his hands tightly gripping the arm rests.

"We'll perform an appendectomy as soon as possible." The doctor said.

"That means you'll take it out?" Dallon asked, moving to help Brendon into the hospital bed. The smaller boy forced himself up and whined as he swung his legs up into the bed. Dallon scooted the little couch he'd been sitting on closer to the side of the bed, so he could hold Brendon's hand.

"Yes, we'll make a small incision just above his right hip, and remove his appendix. There shouldn't be any problems at all, it's really a simple procedure." Dr. Leto said, smiling at Dallon. "Brendon will be fine, but afterwards he'll be on bed rest until it heals. It'll probably be about two weeks."

Dallon nodded. "So when are you going to do the surgery?" He asked.

"I'm going to call up to the eighth floor right now, and see when they can take him. It is fairly urgent, though, so I suspect they'll take him right away. Brendon filled out the forms he needed to fill out after I ran the tests on him."

Dallon nodded again, and squeezed Brendon's hand. Brendon squeezed back weakly, and turned his head to face Dallon. "I'll be fine, I just want it to stop hurting." He assured. Dallon nodded, and Dr. Leto left them alone to go call the surgeon.

"Come up here with me." Brendon mumbled, scooting to the edge of the small hospital bed to make room for Dallon. Dallon stood up and squeezed into the little bed, wrapping his arms around Brendon, who instantly snuggled into Dallon's chest. Dallon slid his fingers under Brendon's shirt and traced patterns on his waist.

Brendon whimpered and balled his hands into fists, squeezing Dallon's shirt in them. Dallon sighed and pressed his lips to Brendon's forehead, and trailed soft kisses down the side of his slightly sweaty face.

He began to sing softly to Brendon, his mouth near Brendon's ear as he recited the words to a song he'd written years ago.

"If time exists then I want it to, be back on my side."

He ran his fingers through Brendon's hair.

"So hours will mean somethin' to me, and I can feel alright."

Brendon sighed and his lips lifted slightly into a weak smile, despite the excruciating pain.

"Sleeping pills and late night films are eating me alive, sleeping pills and late night films are eating me alive."

There was a knock on the door, and it opened a second later to reveal Dr. Leto and another man, wearing blue scrubs. Dallon climbed out of the bed and walked over to the two men.

"Hello, uh..."

"Dallon."

"Okay, Dallon, this is Dr. Armstrong, and he will he performing the surgery on Brendon." Dr. Leto said, as three other nurses walked into the room and grabbed a hold of Brendon's bed, taking the breaks off and rolling it towards the door.

"An appendectomy is a pretty simple emergency surgery, sir, there won't be any problems." Dr. Armstrong said. Dallon nodded.

"You can wait here in this room, Brendon will probably be done in about three hours. I went over the possible complications with him earlier, and he's already done everything he needs to do in order to have it done." Dr. Leto said as Brendon was wheeled away.

"I love you, Bren." Dallon said as he was pushed down the hall, and Brendon responded with an, "I love you." Before Dr. Leto left Dallon alone to wait.

**

Dallon had tried to get some rest on the small couch, but his long legs and tall body prevented him from getting comfortable at all. The wooden armrests allowed for almost no room, so he eventually just sat up on his phone until it died, and he cursed himself for not grabbing a charger.

After three hours, like the doctor said, the doors to the room opened and Brendon was rolled inside, wearing a hospital gown instead of his tank top and sweatpants.

"We have Brendon's clothes here." Dr. Leto said, handing Dallon a small bag. "He should wake up within the next few minutes. I'll send a nurse in a while to check on you guys."

Dallon nodded with a tight-lipped smile and Dr. Leto left once again.

Dallon stood and looked Brendon over. His lips were parted slightly and he looked pale, the slight rise and fall of his chest was the only thing assuring Dallon that he was alive.

Dallon sat back on his couch and held Brendon's limp hand in his own, waiting for him to wake up. He rubbed his thumb across Brendon's knuckles, sliding it over the bones in his small, soft hands as he hummed softly.

Brendon finally began to stir, his eyebrows furrowing before opening his eyes. He yawned and stretched slightly, careful not to pull at the new stitches on his lower stomach.

"Hey, Bren, how are you feeling?" Dallon asked, scooting a little closer to the bed and smiling at his boyfriend.

Brendon smiled weakly back at him and said, "I feel fine, my stomach isn't killing me anymore."

Dallon looked up in wonder at the machines Brendon was hooked up to. "That's good baby, does it hurt?" He asked, pointing to where he guessed the incision was.

Brendon shook his head. "No, they've got me on a bunch of pain meds. It feels kinda... weird, though. Like, I can sorta feel it but it doesn't hurt." He explained. "Wanna see it?"

Dallon nodded, having never seen stitches before, except for when his dog got fixed when he was younger.

Brendon pulled the blanket off of himself and lifted up his hospital gown, which he was naked underneath, Dallon noticed, blushing.

There was a short line just above Brendon's right hip, on his stomach. It was only a couple inches long. It was sort of swollen around it and it looked... weird. Dallon leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to the skin right beside it, and Brendon giggled and rolled his eyes. "You're so fucking... cheesy." He said.

Dallon just smiled and pulled Brendon's gown back down, looking up into his eyes. "Well, I love you. And I'm glad you're okay."

"I love you, and I'm also glad I'm okay. This world just wouldn't be the same without me in it." Brendon responded dramatically, his eyebrows raised and a smirk playing on his lips.

"I don't even want to think about it." Dallon said.
