The next couple of days went by quickly. Dallon and Brendon spent them at home, with their close friends stopping by from time to time to see them. Brendon had been on the news, after all, and a lot of people were worried about him.

Especially Dallon's mom.

"Dallon Weekes!"

Dallon flinched when he put his phone to his ear and heard his mother yell his name.

"I've been so worried about you and Brendon! Are you not planning to come see us?" His mother said.

"Sorry mom, we've just been trying to get back into the swing of things." Dallon said, and Brendon looked up when he realized who Dallon was talking to.

"She wants us to come see her." Dallon said to Brendon, who smiled.

"Well, when can you come?" Mrs. Weekes asked.

"Um.. we're actually not doing anything today, is it okay if we come today?" Dallon said.

"Of course. See you soon?"

"Yeah, mom. Love you." Dallon said, hanging up the phone.

"I love your mom." Brendon said, smiling.

"Same." Dallon said, smiling as well and standing up. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah." Brendon said. They were already dressed, so they only had to put on shoes (and Brendon had to fix his hair) and leave. They drove to Dallon's parents' house and parked out front. Dallon sent a text to his mom on the way, saying Brendon doesn't like to talk much about what happened. Don't ask him any uncomfortable questions, please. And if you're watching the news, turn it off so he doesn't have to hear it. Thank you.

She didn't respond, but he was sure she had seen it. He held Brendon's hand as they walked to the door, and he barely had time to knock before his mom was swinging it open and pulling them both into a hug. Brendon smiled and hugged her back, barely standing any taller than her.

"I'm so glad to see you both. I'm glad you're okay, Brendon." She said, letting them go so they could walk in the house.

"Thank you." Brendon said, a smile on his face.

"We're making dinner now, it'll be done in a little while. But we have some Christmas stuff for you!" Mrs. Weekes said. Dallon sat down on the couch and Brendon sat down next to him, as Dallon's mother grabbed a few gifts from another room and brought them to them. Dallon's dad walked out of the kitchen, standing in the doorway.

"Hey, guys." He said, smiling.

Brendon looked incredibly happy that Dallon's dad was talking to them, and he said, "Hello Mr. Weekes." While Dallon just smiled at him.

"The cards are from your father and I, and the other ones are from your nieces." His mom said. Their cards both had gift cards to nice restaurants in them, and Dallon smiled when he opened the messily wrapped package to reveal a framed picture of himself and his nieces from several years ago. Brendon's was a framed picture of him and Dallon at the last cookout; someone must have taken it when they weren't paying attention. They were sitting together at the picnic table, and Dallon was smiling at Brendon while Brendon looked down at his plate.

"These are so cute!" Brendon said, smiling at Mrs. Weekes. "Tell them we said thank you, please."

"Of course." Mrs. Weekes said. "Is dinner ready?" She asked Dallon's dad, who was still standing in the doorway. He nodded, and and she stood up and said, "Come on, you two. Let's eat!"

When they were finished eating, Brendon and Dallon didn't spend too much time before they left. Brendon was tired, and he reclined the passenger seat all the way back so he could take a nap on the way home.

Brendon had to talk to a lawyer the next day. Dallon knew it was going to be hard on him. The two of them went to bed early; Dallon figured Brendon would need all the energy he needed to be able to deal with tomorrow.
