Brendon spent a good while playing his new piano, and Dallon watched and listened, until they finally went to bed. Brendon curled up in Dallon's arms with his head resting on his chest.

"Thank you for the best Christmas I've ever had." Brendon said, tracing patterns on the front of Dallon's shirt.

Dallon smiled and leaned down enough to kiss the top of Brendon's head. "You're welcome, baby. This was the best Christmas I've ever had, too."

Dallon could feel the movement of Brendon's face against his chest as the smaller boy smiled. They were quiet for a while, until Brendon sighed, scooting closer to Dallon, even though they were already basically on top of each other.

"What's the matter, Bren?" Dallon asked.

Brendon sighed again and said, "It's just.. hard for me to fall asleep without thinking about.. y'know. What used to happen when I went to bed."

Dallon tightened his grip on his boyfriend, pulling him into a sort of hug. "Baby, I'm so sorry. Nothing like that is going to happen ever again. I'm here to keep you safe. I know I didn't do a good job of it last time, but-"

"Dal, don't blame yourself. It's nothing you could have helped." Brendon said. "Being here with you laying beside me makes me feel better."

"I'm glad." Dallon said. They were quiet again, until Brendon said,

"He used to tell me you didn't care anymore. He told me you'd given up looking for me, and he even told me you'd moved on and found someone else."

"Never." Dallon said firmly.

"He'd try to plant these ideas in my head, so that I'd think I'd be better off staying with him. But I didn't give up hope that you or someone would find me." Brendon continued.

"I wish we would have found you sooner." Dallon said. "I missed you so much baby, every night I stayed awake wondering what he was doing to you. I hoped and prayed that he wasn't hurting you. And if he was, I wished I could take the pain away from you."

Brendon smiled. "I love you." He said.

"And I love you." Dallon said.

"The night that- everything was worse.. when he made me come too.. he tried to make me think that because that happened, I wanted him. He tried to make me think that I cheated on you." Brendon said.

"Of course not, baby. You couldn't help it. I can't even imagine baby, oh my god. Trust me, you didn't cheat on me.  I promise." Dallon comforted, his fingers rubbing up and down Brendon's back. He moved his hand down to the small of Brendon's back, rubbing there because every time he and Brendon had sex, the smaller always complained the next day about his lower back. So he figured that it must hurt now as well, considering what had happened.

"Mmh." Brendon said, turning a little to give Dallon better access. "That feels good." He said.

Dallon kissed the top of Brendon's head again as he continued his massage, pressing his thumb against Brendon's muscles and rubbing them as Brendon breathed deeply, a content smile on his face as he closed his eyes.

Dallon ran his fingers softly over the finger-shaped bruised on Brendon's waist, and across the scratch marks that were healing slowly on his back. It angered him that anyone besides him would dare put these marks on his boy, but he didn't let the anger show as he dragged his fingers across Brendon's skin, scratching his back with fingernails as the smaller boy drifted off to sleep, resting with his head on Dallon.

Dallon wasn't looking forward to the trial. He wasn't looking forward to being in the court room with Ryan. He wasn't looking forward to having to listen to Brendon talk, in front of several people, about what exactly happened to him. He knew Brendon would be embarrassed. He knew Brendon would hate every second of it, even if it meant Ryan went to prison.

He wanted the rest of Brendon's life to be happy and healthy. He knew it would be a while until Brendon was 100% back to normal, and he knew that there were certain things that couldn't be controlled; but he still wanted the best for Brendon. No matter what he had to do, he wanted to do it for Brendon.

He decided that once the trial was over, he would propose. He would take Brendon somewhere nice to eat, then to look at the stars in their little park afterwards. Then he'd do it there.

He hoped Brendon would say yes. He knew that Brendon loved him, and he wasn't too doubtful.. but he couldn't help but feel anxiety. It was outweighed by his excitement though.
