When the fourth of July finally rolled around, Brendon was ready to go to another party. He hadn't been going to a lot of parties recently, because he could tell that Dallon wasn't really comfortable with them. He didn't like to drag Dallon around somewhere where he didn't want to be.
He was dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans and a red, white, and blue tank top that Dallon had gotten for him just for the occasion. Dallon wore gray jeans and a blue button-up, and his glasses (that Brendon didn't even know he needed, but he wasn't complaining. Glasses looked good on Dallon).
Dallon insisted on bringing the video camera as well, sitting it in the backseat before they drove towards the local park for the firework show.
It was already getting dark when they pulled up at the park, and Dallon parked the car next to all of their friends' cars. Mikey, Pete, Spencer and Linda were playing cornhole in the grass, and several other people were sitting on chairs or the hoods of cars, drinking.
Gerard smiled and walked over to the two when they got out of the car, and Frank followed. Gerard handed the both of them a beer, and Brendon gladly accepted his, while Dallon awkwardly took the bottle and nodded once. He grabbed the video camera from the back of the car and held it in his hand, for when the show started.
"The fireworks start in a few minutes." Gerard said, smiling and looking up to the sky above the pond, where the fireworks would be shot.
"What if they fall over and start shooting everyone?" Frank said, his eyeliner-ringed eyes wide.
Gerard rolled his eyes. "Thank you, Captain Edge Lord." He said, and Dallon giggled. Brendon did the same, but responded anyway; "That would be pretty... lit."
"Oh my fucking god, Brendon. That's the worst one you've ever did." Gerard groaned, and Dallon rolled his eyes at his boyfriend, who was smiling proudly.
A pickup truck whipped into an empty space next to Dallon's car, and Dallon feared for a moment that the vehicle would hit it. It didn't though, ad when it stopped, a clearly drunk Caleb climbed out of the driver's seat. Kenny got out of the passenger side, and followed Caleb towards Brendon.
"Where's the beer?" Caleb asked, and Gerard pointed to the many coolers lined against his car. Calen made his way towards them, and Brendon pulled down the tailgate of Caleb's truck.
He hopped up onto it, the truck bouncing under his weight as he sat on the tail gate. "Dal, come up here." He said, patting the space beside him. Dallon walked over and sat down, not having to jump up like Brendon had as he did. Brendon instantly leaned into Dallon, and the taller wrapped and arm around his shoulders. Just as they got comfortable, the fireworks began to shoot into the dark sky.
The loud talking and laughing of everyone around them hushed as everyone stared up. Brendon had this stupid little grin on his face, and Dallon found himself watching Brendon more than the fireworks. After the first few seconds, Brendon lied down in the bed of the truck and pulled Dallon down too, resting his head on Dallon's chest as they watched the foreworks.
It was perfect.
Dallon couldn't keep a smile off his face for some reason, every time he looked down at Brendon lying against him, it grew. He brought a hand up to run his fingers through Brendon's hair. The smaller hummed a soft tune as Dallon played with his dark hair, made darker in the night. Dallon recognized the song after a few seconds; it was Love at First Sight, a song he'd written and recorded with The Brobecks several years ago. Brendon had looked them up?
Could this be love at first sight, or should I walk by again?
Dallon smiled as he thought to himself; it had been love at first sight. He loved Brendon. Ever since the first night he'd spent with him.
Dallon reached for the video camera sitting in the bed of the truck, and he turned it on, pointing it to the sky to get the fireworks, along with Brendon now softly singing in the background.
When the fireworks finished, Brendon sat up and Dallon focused the camera on him. "Bren?" He said.
Brendon turned and faced the camera, smiling and striking a pose. Dallon giggled and said, "Bren, I love you."
He was worried. Love was a strong word, Dallon knew, and he had really put himself out in the open by saying it.
Brendon smiled widely and said, "I love you too, Dallon Weekes." He scooted back towards Dallon and pressed a long kiss to his lips. Dallon smiled against Brendon's lips and when they pulled apart, he pointed the camera towards them both.
"Hear that?" Brendon asked. "We're in love. He's allll mine." He said, and Dallon blushed, a dumb little smile resting on his lips still.
Dallon realized that several people were leaving now, so he turned the camera off and said, "We should go ahead and follow them to Gerard's house now, probably." Brendon nodded and they both got into Dallon's car, driving to Gerard's.

I saw Twenty Øne Piløts last night... they played Heathens for the first time live and I was literally like 2 feet away from them the whole time. It was great.
