Dallon woke up feeling like he was the luckiest man alive with Brendon back in bed with him, even though it had only been a little over a week that he was missing. He smiled and pressed a kiss to his sleeping boyfriend's forehead before he got out of bed. He took all of the wrapping paper from the living room and sat it on the bed next to Brendon, and wrote him a note that said 'wrap my gifts under the bed and bring them to the tree'.
He knew Brendon would want to give him the gifts wrapped, so he closed the door and left Brendon to wake up and wrap them on his own. He went to the kitchen to (attempt to) make pancakes for breakfast.
**
When Brendon walked out of the bedroom, Dallon had already set the table with enough pancakes to feed an army. Pete and Spencer had left at some time during the night, so there were only two plates; one for him and one for Brendon. Dallon noticed Brendon's face was once again clean-shaven.
Brendon was carrying way too many boxes for his own good, so Dallon took the two on top off of the stack in the smaller man's arms.
"Thanks." Brendon said, and Dallon smiled and said, "No problem."
They carried the presents to the tree, and sat them next to the ones Dallon already had there.
"We can open them after breakfast." Dallon said, which only made Brendon eat as fast as he possibly could (like a child) so that he could get to the presents as soon as possible.
"Hurry up Dal." Brendon said, tapping his foot impatiently as he waited on Dallon to finish the pancakes. When the taller was finally done, Brendon stood up and took their dishes to the sink. He kissed the top of Dallon's head as he walked by, and said, "Thanks for breakfast, babe."
Dallon smiled and said, "You're welcome. And I think that's the first time you've ever kissed the top of my head, the only reason you can reach it is cause I'm sitting down."
Brendon rolled his eyes. "I revoke my thanks." He teased, and Dallon only giggled as they made their way to the Christmas tree in the living room, surrounded by gifts waiting to be opened. Dallon hoped that this would he something to distract Brendon from what happened for a little while, but he knew they'd talk about it eventually.
Brendon pulled Dallon along by hooking their fingers together, and Dallon sat criss-cross on the carpet and Brendon sat beside him. The smaller man was so excited that he was practically shaking, but Dallon couldn't help but notice the bruises on his neck. Brendon was smiling and reaching for the presents, but Dallon could tell he was acting different. How could he not, after what happened?
"Dal?" Brendon said.
"What?" Dallon asked.
"I asked you a question, did you hear me?"
"No, sorry." Dallon said. "I was thinking."
"Which one first?" Brendon asked nodding towards the five gifts with Dallon's name on them.
"The big one." Dallon said, pointing at the biggest present Brendon had wrapped. Brendon smiled and handed it to him, and sat one for himself in his own lap. The smaller man spread his legs out and sat the box on the carpet between them, and began to tear off the wrapping paper.
"Dallon." Brendon said, his eyes wide as he finished unwrapping his gift. "Oh my god."
Dallon smiled, watching Brendon as he smiled and opened up the guitar Dallon ordered. It had come in a box in the mail. Brendon's smile was as big as Dallon had ever seen, and he grabbed their video camera off of the couch and turned it on, pointing it at Brendon as the smaller man pulled out the guitar. Dallon had taken it out and made sure it was in tune, so that Brendon could play it right when he took it out.
