chapter 10

• Renae's POV •

"Who's here?" Liam asked. "It's a long story..." I told him. "Well...are you okay?" he asked looking concerned. "Yeah...I'm fine" I say and nod my head. "Renae!" Sammy and Vanessa said as they ran up to me. "Where have you been?!" Sammy asked. "He's here!" I say looking at them seriously. "What?" Sammy questioned with a confused face. "He is here! he pulled me in a closet and I don't know what else he was going to do!" I say in a frightened voice. "Oh my gosh Renae! Are you okay?!" Vanessa asked as she hugged me tightly. "I'm fine, I'm fine" I say, taking a step back from Vanessa. "Okay..." Vanessa says as she takes a step back. "So uhm, who's this?" Sammy asked as she looked at Liam. "Oh, this is Liam. Liam this is Sammy and Vanessa" I introduced. "Hi" Liam says as he waves and smiles. Vanessa and Sammy both wave and smile. Just then the power went off in the house. Everyone pulled out their phones for flashlights. "What the heck is happening?!" Sammy asked. "I have no idea but I don't feel too good about it" I say as I grabbed Liam's arm. Liam pulled me closer and I could feel the body heat as we stood together. It seemed as if I was starting to have 'feelings' for him. Just then someone grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from Liam. "Stop! What are you doing?! Who are you?!" I yelled. "Shhh..." the voice said as they picked me up and ran out of the house. "Liam! Vanessa, Sammy!" I screamed out. I couldn't tell where they were taking me but I knew that I was in a trunk now. I didn't understand why they did this so much. What did they want from me?! I suddenly then remembered I had my phone. Crossing my fingers I reached for my back pocket and took it out. Thank God it was still in there. I quickly dialed Vanessa's number down and waited for her to pick up the call. "Renae!" Vanessa said in a panicked voice. "Where are you?!" she then said. "I have no idea! All I know is that I'm in a trunk!" I answered back. "Oh my gosh okay, um do you know what kind of car you're in?" Vanessa asked. "No, I just know it's not a truck!" I tell Vanessa. "Well I'm with Liam right now and we are going to try to find you okay?! I don't care how hard it is we will find you!" Vanessa tells me. "Okay" I say and sigh. Vanessa then ended the call. I sat there quietly...listening. All of a sudden the car just stopped making a jolt. The trunk opened and I see two figures looking at me. "Please don't hurt me" I say in a pleading tone. "Why would we want to do that?" one of them tells me. "Who are you?" I ask. "Don't worry about it" the other said as he grabbed me and took me into a building. "I don't get it. What do you guys want from me?" I ask in a stubborn voice. "JUST SHUT UP" one of them says. "Just stay here" the other said as they both walked away and got into the car and drove off. I pulled out my phone quickly and called Vanessa. "Hello?" Vanessa answered. "Vanessa, I'm not in the car anymore! I'm in this empty building but I have no idea where it is" I say looking around trying to see if it has a name. "Okay, Liam wants to talk to you" Vanessa then says. "Alright Renae, what I want you to do is go outside and tell me what you see." I looked around and saw a door, I step outside and looked around. "Okay, I see a highway and nothing else but desert." "Okay..can you tell me what highway it is?" Liam asks. "I think it's highway 144" I say seeing a sign in the distance. "Okay, just stay there and if anything happens call us" Liam says over the phone. "Okay" I say and sit on the sidewalk next to the building. "Alright, bye" Vanessa says and ends the call.

Thirty minutes went by and there was still no sign of Vanessa and Liam. I sat there thoughtless. I see headlights illuminate the vacant space. The lights shinned in my eyes. "Renae!" I heard Liam and Vanessa yell. "You guys!" I say as I ran towards them. "Are you okay?!" Liam asked with a worried face. "I'm fine" I say and slightly smile. "Okay, good! Now can we go to my house?" Vanessa then asked. "Well okay" I say and chuckle. We all then got into Liam's truck and made our way to Vanessa's house.

As we pulled into Vanessa's driveway there was an awkward silence. "Well I'll be right back...you guys stay here for a bit" Vanessa says as she got down from the back seat and walked to her front door. "Who are these people? That are trying to take you..." Liam asks me quietly. "To be completely honest, I have no idea" I answer back and let out a deep sigh. "How long has this been happening?" Liam then asks. "Probably about a month and a half now" I say. "Wow" Liam then says. "Yeah..." I said quietly and nod my head. "I hope we still talk...I mean when I leave back to Phoenix..." Liam says as he looked into my eyes. "We will" I say meeting his eyes as I got quiet. "When are you leaving?" I asked wanting to avoid awkward silences. "Tomorrow night..." Liam says looking down. "Oh..." I say looking away. I watch Liam take my phone from my hand and put his number in. "So we can keep in touch" Liam says as he grins. "Sounds good" I says and smile back.

Vanessa gets back into the car and looks at us both. "Okay, so where do you guys want to go?" Liam laughs. "Well how about the park?" Liam suggests. "Sure" Vanessa and I both say. As Liam starts up the car I glance into the rearview mirror and see someone standing across the street. I stayed quiet as she tried to figure out who it was. My phone then vibrated, I opened the message and read to myself;

'Next time be careful before you decide to escape.'

As we reached the park I felt pretty sick. I couldn't help but think that someone was following me. I made my way to the bathrooms as Liam and Vanessa sat on the swings. As I walked to the bathroom I felt someone was watching me. Great, I thought as I shook my head telling myself I was just creeping myself out. I walk into the bathroom and just as I walk into a stall someone pulled her in. I, just screamed.
