Captured (Chapter 15)

Renae ran upstairs into her sisters room and looked out the window. No one was there. She got out her phone and dialed her dad's number. "Hello?" her dad, Troy, answered. "Dad, somebody shot the window in the family room and it shattered! I don't know what to do!" Renae said as she began to panic even more. "Okay! Just stay calm and and call the police! I'll get there as fast as I can" he said as Renae could here him moving around. "Okay" is all Renae said and hung up. She then dialed the police departments number and waited for an answer. She didn't want to call 911 because she knew this wasn't that bad of an emergency. "Sierra Vista Police Department, how may I help you?" A woman answered the phone. "Uh hi, can I have some of you come over to my house and take a look because someone shot into my window.." Renae said as she made her way to the rail and listened quietly for any movement downstairs. "Alright ma'am, they'll be on their way" "Thanks" Renae said and hung up. She went down the stairs and walked towards the family room. She still couldn't believe this happened. She just all wanted this to stop. She couldn't handle it no longer. Suddenly two police cars parked by her house. Renae made her way to the front door and opened it as they were walking to the house. "Hello ma'am, did you ever call us?" Renae didn't answer the question she just looked at them and then looked at the big window and with all the glass on the floor. "Oh! Right." The officer said. "Yeah be careful you don't step on the glass" Renae said with sarcasm. "Okay missy lets get to the point! What happened?" the other officer said as he looked around. "I was throwing the trash and then I heard two gunshots and then the window shattered" Renae said looking at him. "Okay" he said and walked in the house as he turned back to Renae. "Where's the family room?" he asked. "Follow me" Renae said as she passed him and walked in the kitchen and then down a couple of steps into the family room. You could see 3 other officers outside looking in the family room. "Thanks"he said and nodded his head in reassurance. Renae walked away and made her way towards the front door. She wanted her dad to come home already. Her moms car then pulled up. "Great" she thought to herself as she walked outside towards her moms car. "Renae! Are you okay?!" She asked as she got out of the car quickly and hugged her. "I'm fine mom, just a little scared" Renae said and hugged her back. "Okay I'm going to go talk to the officers" her mom said as she walked away and started talking to an officer. Renae walked further down the drive way and saw her dad driving towards the house. He drove into the driveway and parked next to a police car and got down. "Dad!" Renae said as she went up to him and hugged him. "Renae! Are you okay?" Her dad asked as he hugged her and looked back at the house. "Im fine" she said. "Well I'm going with her mom okay? Just be patient" he told Renae as he walked away. Renae looked around and started to walk to their garden. That was always her place get away from things. As she opened the gate she walked passed the tall bushes making a couple of turns and then sat down on the bench which was in the middle of the garden. She would miss this house a lot. A lot of childhood memories and a lot more things. Renae looked up as she heard someone walking towards her. Zayn appeared from the corner and gave her a reassuring smile. "Hey" he said and took a seat next to her. "Hi..how did you get here? Why are you here? How did you know I was in here?" Renae said as she sounded confused. "Well I drove here and I came to give you something" Renae saw the wrapped gift he was holding. "And I asked your dad where you were and he said in the garden" Zayn finished and looked at Renae waiting for a response. "Oh.." was all she could manage to say. "Here" Zayn said and handed her the gift. "Thanks" Renae said and started to open it. She must have looked confused because Zayn then said "Now open the box" She felt so stupid it embarrassed her. She then opened the box and found a dark red lace skater dress with black tights and a pair of platform pumps. Renae was surprised. She didn't expect this. And he knew her style so well. "Thank you!" Renae said as she gave Zayn a hug. "What made you do all this?" Renae asked and looked at Zayn. "Well.." he said and gave her a note that was folded. She unfolded it and read it to herself, Would you like to go on a dinner date with me please? xo, Zayn. Renae looked at him and smiled. "I would love to..but you have to ask my parents first because of everything that's happened" Renae said and looked down. "That's fine" Zayn said as he got up and handed his hand out to Renae and smiled. She took it and smiled back as Zayn twirled her around and lead the way out. As Zayn walked closer to her parents she got a bit nervous. No guy has ever asked her dad to take her out or date her. He dad turned around and Renae let go of Zayns hand. "Hello Mr.Marin, would you allow me to take your daughter Renae on a date tonight?" Zayn asked as he bit his lip. Renae's mom's eyes glowed as she smiled and said "Of course you can!" Zayn smiled but turned back to the dad. "Well?" Zayn asked. "Yes, yes you can you just have to bring her back before 10:30" he said and looked at Renae and smiled. Renae mouthed "Thank you" to her dad. "Thank you Sir! I'll pick you up at 7, Renae" Zayn said as he made his way to his black 1968 charger and drove away.

"What time is it?" Renae asked as she looked at her mom. She took out her phone and answered "4:30. You should start getting ready!" "Okay, okay" Renae said as she made her way inside and went upstairs to her room. She never expected to go on a date with Zayn and what would happen after this date? She closed her blinds and went into her bathroom and started to get ready.
