chapter 27

"Sir, I really enjoy hanging out with your daughter. Please don't tell me I can't see her. As it is I hardly do see her since I live in Tucson!" Liam says looking straight into my dad's eyes. It gets quiet for a moment but my phone interrupts the silence with a call. I pull it out of my pocket and see its Zayn. Everyone looks at me waiting for me to answer it. I press ignore and put it back in my pocket. "Can we just leave this alone already? I mean it's happened, I told you guys how it happened! Can we just worry about my eye and let Liam leave now!" I say throwing my hands in the hair. "Yes" my dad mumbles underneath his breath. Liam waves and walks out the door. My dad closes the door behind him. I start to walk upstairs but my mom and dad stop me. "You aren't getting off that easy" my mom says starting at me as he arms are crossed across her chest. "What?! Are you serious?" I say facing my mom. "You know that your curfew is at one. You earned that curfew and since you lost it you won't be going out to parties or to games for a month" my mom states. "I don't understand what I did" I say and turn back to the stairs walking to my room.

•Zayn's POV•

I put my phone done after I attempted to call Renae. I just laid there on my bed hoping she'll call back. I turned my head to face the clock and read 10:15 am. I got up and grabbed my phone as I left my room and made my way downstairs. "Where are you going?" my mom asked from the living room as she was watching tv. "I was thinking about going to buy some new clothes.." I said unlocking the front door and grabbing my keys from the counter. "Do you have money?" she asked. "Yeah" I say standing waiting for her to finish. "Okay, bye" she says and changes the channel. "Bye!" I say and walk out the front door walking to my car and unlocking it. I got in and turned the car on. I pull out of the driveway and make my way down the street and stop at the first stop sign. I turn and make my way to the mall as I put some music on.

I pulled into the parking lot of the mall and drove around trying to find an open space. I see a car backing out and quickly park into the space and turn off the car. I was towards the front entrance and see Harry and Jerusha leaving the mall. "Oh hey guys" I say and smile. "Hi Zayn!" Jerusha calls out and smiles back. "Hey" Harry says and laughs. "Are you ready for school?" Jerusha asks smirking. "Don't even bring it up!" I say and nod my head. "Sophomore this year?" I look at Jerusha. "Yeah, sophomore! I feel so left behind. "Don't!" I say. "Well we'll get going! Later Zayn!" Harry says and they both walk off hand in hand. I turned around and opened the doors to the mall and made my way around. I checked my phone again hoping Renae texted or called me but nope she didn't. I enter Spencer's and scan the back wall of shirts. I walk towards the wall and pick out three of their graphic tee's and bring them to the check out. "Hi! Did you find everything okay?" the girl behind the counter asks. "Yeah" I say and turn behind me looking around. "Alright, $35.75 is your total" she says. I nod and take out my wallet from my back pocket and pull out the cash handing it to her. "Thank you!" She says and hands me my receipt and bag. "Thanks" I nod and smile waiting for my change. "$7.50 is your change" she smiles and looks at me as she hands me the money. I turn around and walk out of the door looking at my receipt and notice she put down her number. I toss it into the trash can and walk into H&M checking my phone once again but this time she did call. I dial her number and wait for her to answer. "Hello?" Renae answers. "Hey..how are you doing?" I ask browsing the plain shirts. "If you're asking about my eye it's a bit better but I'll be showing up to school tomorrow with a slightly swollen black eye" she says with an annoyed tone. "It wasn't my fault!" I say taking a dark blue and dark red blank shirts. "I know it wasn't I didn't say it was" she says. "Alright well I'll see you in a bit" I say and walk to the check out. "What do you mean?" she asks with confusion. "Just bye" I say and laugh a little. "Okay bye" she says and hangs up. I buy the shirts and head over to Shoe Place and get myself all black high top converse. I walk out of the mall and put the bags into my car as I get in and turn it on. I back out of the parking space and drive out of the mall lot driving down the street to Walmart. I pull my car into a parking space and get out of the car. I made my way to the garden center and picked out a bouquet of sunflowers and headed to the cash register. "Oh these are pretty!" the worker says as she rings me up. I nod and smile at her. "Alright $8.15" she says as I hand her my credit card. "Okay here's your receipt have a good day!" She says and hands me the flowers and receipt. "Thank you" I say and head out of Walmart walking to my car. I get in and drive out of Walmart and down the street making my way to Renaes house.

I pull into Renae's driveway and turn off the car. I grab the flowers and get out of the car walking to her front door. I ring the doorbell and await for an answer. "Zayn!" Her dad answers. "Hi, um is Renae home?" I ask biting my bottom lip. "She's in her room" he says and smiled. I smile back and nod as I walk in and go up the stairs to her door. I knock against the door. "Yeah?" I hear her say. "Renae..its me" I say and try to open the door but it's locked. The door knob turns and Renae opens the door. "What are you doing here?!" she asks confused. "I thought I'd bring you some flowers" I say and smile as I hand her the sunflowers. "Oh these are so pretty! Thank you" she says and smiles. I follow her inside her room as she puts the flowers on her dresser. "Anytime" I say and smile back. I sit next to her on her and there's a small awkward silence. "Do you like Liam?" I suddenly ask. "What do you mean?" she asks looking at me with a weird look. "Like would you go out with him? Would you consider being his girlfriend?" I ask playing with my hands and looking at the ground. "You know Zayn.. I'm not really sure.. I love Liam but just the thought of him not living here ruins it" she says and looks at my hands. "But if he did live here would you?" I ask again. "Probably... why are you asking?!" she says. "It's just a question" I answer back and get up from her bed. "I'm going to get going.. I'll see you tomorrow!" I say and walk out the door. I close the door behind me and walk downstairs to the front door walking out and closing the door as well. I get into my car and look back at Renae's house. I hated how I would always be the bad guy because of Liam.
