At Hogwarts:
Annabeth looked down the dark hallway. Where did Luna disappear to? She considered calling her, but thought against it as more monsters could be lurking.

Piper bit her lip. "She should've come back by now. It's been ten minutes. What if the araco-whatsit wakes up? These wands are for show! Hazel just used Mist to change our weapons!"

Annabeth paced. There was nothing else to do. "One of us leaves."

Piper widened her eyes. "Oh, HADES no! My dad's a movie star, and he doesn't have to be in horror movies for me to know that that's a very bad idea."

Annabeth shrugged. "I don't watch TV. It's either one of us, or both of us."

"How about none of us?" Piper asked. "Gods, how I wish Jason was here."

Annabeth raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"He could fly. And he's my boyfriend. Don't you ever miss Percy?"

"Well yeah, but......I don't know! And don't change the subject. I'm going to get Luna."
Annabeth plunged into hallway before she could change her mind. She was enveloped in darkness.

"Annabeth! Come back!" She heard Piper yell.

Why did she seem so far away? Annabeth headed towards her voice and rammed into a wall.

"What?" She mumbled.

"Annabeth this is not funny!" Piper yelled.

Annabeth thrust her hands around, and felt the wall. But she didn't feel paintings or anything else. She walked away from the wall and tripped over something.

"P-Piper?" Annabeth said. "Piper? Piper. Piper! PIPER!" She screamed, frantic. "Piper where am I?"

Annabeth scrambled around and felt her heart in her stomach.

"Annabeth? I think the spider-thingy is waking up.........AHH! Yup, awake! I'm coming after you!" Piper said again and Annabeth couldn't hear her anymore.

"Piper?"

Annabeth.

"Piper."

Annabeth.

"Piper!"

Annabeth.

"PIPER!"

Annabeth.

You're.

Slowly.
Going.

Insane.

Annabeth screamed. She couldn't handle it. Nobody was scared of the dark, they were scared of what's in it. And Annabeth knew all too well what the dark concealed.

All her worst memories swirled around her. They were a vortex, consuming her soul and sanity.

She fell to the ground in a heap and looked around. Her eyes were wild. Her breathing heavy. Her heart aching and empty.

Annabeth.

Annabeth.

Piper.

Annabeth.

Annabeth.

You're.

Now.

Insane.

She didn't keep track how long she sat there. It could've been seconds, minutes, hours, days, years, decades, centuries, or millennia.
