Chapter 21

At Amazon Headquarters:
Hylla nervously chewed her lip. Please make her safe. It was all she could think. It was all she could feel. Worry. Terror. Worry. Terror. Worry. Terror. WORRY.

"Why haven't I gone to help her again?" Hylla asked one of her fellow Amazons.

The teenage girl curtly responded. "We have to wait until Camp Jupiter really needs our help, Queen Hylla. We can't waste reinforcements on them."

Hylla's fists clenched. "We wouldn't be wasting reinforcements. We would be helping an ally. If we ever need help wouldn't you want it too?!"

The girl snorted. "Like I would ever need help from those Legion-this,
Legion-this, scumbags."

Hylla froze. "What did you say?" She asked calmly.

"I said-"

The girl was cut off by an incoming Iris-message.

"Leave me." Hylla commanded everyone in her throne room. Everyone filed out.

The girl stayed behind as Reyna's face shimmered into view.

"What are you still doing here? Leave before I rip your head off and eat it for breakfast. You're the scumbag." Hylla said angrily.

The Amazon widened her eyes and hastily bowed. She ran out.

"Impressive," Reyna said.

Hylla smiled. "As always. What is it?"

Reyna frowned. "We need help. My fellow praetor is missing. The wizards aren't enough. Half the Legion is missing! I need...I don't know...."

Reyna buried her head in her hands and stayed silent for a count of twenty seconds.

"Hey, it's okay. Don't panic." Hylla said gently. She knew her sister had been through a lot, and was still going through a lot.

Reyna sniffed, as if ashamed someone had seen her weak. "As I was saying," she said smoothly, "Camp Jupiter is under attack. We need reinforcements. I have the Legion and confused parents looking to me fore guidance. I need to evacuate them. They need to be safe."

Hylla laughed. "You want to evacuate the Legion?"

Reyna swatted her hand at Hylla, smiling. "That would be stupid, Hyls. I want to evacuate the families. I already called students from the university, like Gwen, to help defend their home. Hylla, I desperately need troops. You're our last hope. Or the Legion's final stand is here."

Reyna ended grimly. All traces of humor were gone. Hylla nodded.

"How many?" She asked.

Reyna grimaced. "As many as you can spare?"

Hylla shrugged. "You got it. We'll be there as fast as we can."

Sounds of screaming and steel against Imperial gold were heard.

Reyna widened her eyes. "I have to go. I'll see you soon."

"Preferably alive." Hylla said, then saw Reyna running towards the doors, which exploded.

The image disappeared just as Reyna yelled.

"Reyna!" Hylla shrieked.

When her attendants came running through the doors, Hylla's heart was thumping so hard it seemed it would rip through her, and she was screaming for her sister.
