*****Alpha King Dante pictured above*****

I pulled the soft flesh of my cheek back in between my teeth and chewed on it. The white puffy clouds soared below us as we continued on our journey. Although there were at least 20 of us on the jet, it was quiet enough that the only noise that could be heard was the humming of the engine.

A movement to my left caught my attention and I looked up as the Alpha King knelt down beside my seat. "I hope you are comfortable, Kayla. I don't use this jet very much, so it is not really kept to my standards."

I smiled graciously over at him. "It is definitely better than flying coach." I laughed. "I did that once when I visited my cousin and I will adamantly say I will never do it again." He responded with a smile that caught me off guard with how dazzling it was. To be older, he really was attractive. At least I could say that much. Being a hybrid kept him fit and he appeared younger even though he was 42 years of age.

We were distracted in that moment by a beep and the seat belt light came on above my head. Dante glanced up and smiled. "We'll be landing in a few minutes." He stood and turned to head back to his seat behind me, but paused before he passed me completely. "I know you will like it here, Kayla. It's not Redwood, but there is so much about my land that could make you happy if you will allow it to." His smile was sincere and it forced one of my own as I nodded.

I closed my eyes as the plane started to descend below the clouds and sparkling blue water came into my view. It made me nervous. I had never been so close to the beach before and although part of me was excited, the other part of me feared the unknown too much. I pushed the thoughts out of my head. This was my home now, so I was going to embrace it. All of it.

I opened my eyes and looked out of the window again. The water was beautiful. The town beside it was remarkable. This was Dante's land, and now it was mine too, and I was determined to like it.

The plane landed with minimal turbulence and I breathed out a sigh of relief. I needed my feet on solid ground again. As soon as the plane rolled to a stop on the runway, the pilot turned the seat belt sign off. I unfastened it and stood. Immediately Dante was by my side and I felt his hand guiding me around my waist.

The closeness made me nervous, but I didn't pull away. He was obviously more comfortable with our situation than I was. I didn't know if I ever would be comfortable, but I was going to try. It wouldn't be fair to him if I didn't. We stepped off the plane and down onto the runway and I glanced ahead as a beige 4-door car pulled up and the driver stepped out. "Ahh, hello, Olivier. I trust everything went smoothly while I was away. I assume so as I did not receive any disconcerting phone calls." I glanced up at him. "Phone calls? How?"

His laughter rang out loud enough that the men unloading the luggage from the plane temporarily stopped and glanced in our direction. "Humans live in a world where technology precedes them and yet the supernatural world is far behind. My pack...my lands are too wide, too vast to be controlled by mere mind manipulations and thoughts, Kayla. We operate with the assistance of such technologies that the humans operate with. Cell phones," he pulled a small rectangular object out of his inside jacket pocket, "allow me to keep in close and constant contact with my enforcers." He held out the object for me to take and I did. It was small. I had seen a phone before, but this was nothing like the one I had seen. It had buttons on the side, which I quickly found out their function. The top one turned the phone on and the one underneath that adjusted the volume of the phone. I stared at it in amusement until it rang and started to vibrate in my hand. A name displayed across the front and I sucked in a sharp breath. Alexander.

I stared at it frozen in a moment of anguish that seeing his name had immediately caused. Dante grasped the phone in his hand and pulled it out of my hand and hid it away in his pocket. "I'm sure it can wait until we are back home. Come, Kayla." His hand found its place against my back again and I was grateful for it this time as he led me towards the waiting car. The man, Olivier, smiled and bowed his head at me. "Luna." I smiled at his show of respect, although I wasn't Luna yet. It was obvious Dante would not have to school a lot of his people on who I was and who I was going to be to them. I wondered if they had already known before he left.
