"Milady, 'tis 6:30 in the evening. 'T'will soon be dusk. I'm here to help ya get into your dress."

I rubbed my eyes, but truthfully, I hadn't been sleeping really. I had nodded off a couple of times, but the same vision I had been having of Damen taking Alex's life kept haunting my dreams. I stretched and rose from the bed.

Reena held a floor length dress in her hands that was complete with a short train. The front of the dress was white with red embroidery around the bodice and skirt and the train was red with white embroidery. The bodice was sweetheart shaped and there were three spaghetti straps attached to each side that were meant to hang off of the shoulder. I blinked. The dress was better yet than any of the others that the king had sent for me to wear. "Here, milady. There's a note for ya."

She turned to lay the dress on the bed and went to work on unfastening the corset part of the dress so that I could put it on. I turned away from her and unraveled the tie of the note and pulled it open. It was written in exquisite penmanship and very old fashioned. Calligraphy almost.

'Dearest Kayla,

I could not envision a dress more perfect for a perfect lady. Wear it with pride that you will be the queen you were meant to be after tonight.

Your King'

I pulled the paper up to my nose to see if I could catch a trace of a scent to figure out who had sent the note and the dress. Surely it wasn't Alexander. Had my words really changed his mind? No. I wasn't getting my hopes up. I had already made up my mind anyway. I was going to leave here tonight with Damen regardless of what Alexander Kovington did or said.

I sighed and dropped the letter on the table beside me and forced myself to remember how Alex had forced me over it and taken me like he had. He would never do that to me again. I wouldn't give him that satisfaction.

"You ready, deary?"

I nodded my head and smiled at Reena but before she could lift up the dress I stepped over to her and pulled her into a hug. "Oh dear!" She remarked. I let her go and smiled. "What 'twas that for, milady?"

I shook my head and stepped towards the bed and pulled my sleeping gown over my head.

"I just wanted to show you how much I appreciate you always showing me kindness even when the king does not. I'm going to miss you."

She looked down. "So, 'tis true then? You're going ta marry that old half-vamp, half-were? How I was hoping 'twasn't true."

I looked at her in shock. "He's a hybrid?"

"Oh dear. You didn't know. Look at me running my mouth inta trouble. Here you go, milady, the dress." She lifted the dress up and I lifted my arms as she slid it over my head and it fit around me like a glove. She pulled the corset tight around my body and it pulled and pushed everything into place as it should be. She adjusted the straps and I heard her turn around. "Royalty indeed." She leaned in closer to me and frowned. "The king saved me life and I'll be loyal to 'im till the day I exist no more, but 'tween you an' me, he'll be makin' the wrong choice tonight if he chooses tha hybrid princess over tha' likes a' you."

I nodded, but after everything I really didn't believe that. The truth was I did know about the prophecy. I never knew that I was the one it was referring to as I had led Alex and Damen to believe. But if it was me, then I was going to do everything I could to change the prophecy.

Reena turned around and held out a pair of 3 inch heels that were the same shade of white as the white in the dress and had red trimming the same color of the red in the dress. It was obvious the dress and the shoes were crafted together and made to wear as a combination. I smiled. Was I really worth all of this? I wasn't sure myself, but someone obviously thought I was, even though I didn't know who that someone was. I knew I was going to find out before the night was over.
