My eyes fluttered open and I pushed myself up in the bed. I inhaled a deep breath and my whole body sparked with the smell of his power, his dominance, his strength, my Lord Alpha, my mate. I found enough strength to sit up and only then did I notice that I was not in familiar surroundings. The room I was in was much darker than my own and there were only two very small windows.
I glanced around as I lifted the soft duvet covers away from my body and felt the soft satin of a night dress as it caressed my body. As I stood, it fell to just above my knees.
My curiosity claimed my attention and I glanced around for a source of more light. I found a small lamp on the table beside the bed and clicked it on. It emitted enough light to see around that side of the bed and I immediately noticed a few things.
The first thing was that this room seemed very dark and dismal.
Second, it was kept with only a small chair pulled out of place slightly and extremely clean, as if I expected anything less.
Third, it was clearly Dante's room because of the power that radiated throughout it.
I turned and looked at the table beside the bed and saw the sparkle of a gold chain. I carefully reached and pulled it into my hand and lifted it up so that I could see it.
It was a locket made of the most delicate gold. It was intricately designed and it was obviously an heirloom. I carefully pulled the small pieces open so that I could see the inside. The pictures were faded considerably so I held it down to the light and immediately the locket fell from my hands to the edge of the table and to the floor before I regained my composure.
"I expected that much of a reaction from you, Kayla." I felt his breath against my neck as he brushed against me before he stepped around me and retrieved the necklace from the floor. "Did you read the inscription?" I shook my head and he held it back into the light so that I could see it. I glanced once again at the picture and at the woman who had curly gold blonde hair and swirly brown eyes and the man who had dark, almost black hair and brown eyes. I felt the man's power from the picture. It seemed impossible.
I shook my head and looked up at Dante. "Read the inscription, Kayla."
I looked back down and at the other side of the locket and read the tiny words above Dante's finger. It read, "To my mate and Luna, Karrahna. 1964."
I shook my head and looked back up at Dante. "Who are they?"
He laughed softly and gently closed the locket and lay it back down on the table where I first found it. He turned and lifted his hands to my waist and started to caress me there. "My mother and father, Alpha and Luna of this pack of that time. They tried to free me from my path, but I chose differently. I have always chosen you. How are you feeling, darling?"
I nodded. "I feel much better, stronger. I think the fact that you brought me here has much to do with that." I smiled and shivered as he brought his caress just underneath the side of my breasts on both sides. The soft silk dress allowed me to feel every adoring touch he offered.
"That was Gandit's orders." I shivered again as his caress became more firm against the fabric of my dress.
"My Lord Alpha takes orders from no one."
Dante laughed and pulled me forward as he sat on the edge of the bed. "I would have followed them anyway, Kayla. You are mine now. You've proven that to everyone including me." His gentle caress stopped and I felt his needy grasp around my waist as he pulled me against him. "Now I would have what is mine."
His words of promise thrilled me and I shivered. His name came out in a soft whisper.
He stood again and pulled the fabric of my dress up as he did and lifted it over my head and tossed it onto the chair behind me. I was completely exposed in front of him and I stood for him to see. I wanted him to see everything I had to offer him.
