“Ok guys, Time to go.” Jerry said as he opened the door to the sight of Matt pulling in the driveway in a large Land Ranger.

Chris and I picked up our bags which we had retrieved and walked over quickly to the car where Matt popped the trunk and we then threw our bags in before closing it again.

I had caught up with Chris at the den and he had already started to get changed and had tried to fix up some of his injuries, I told him to leave his shirt off so Carla could dress his wounds properly and still keep his shirt clean. I had changed back and we ran, or limped, back to Jerry’s house where Carla did dress our wounds and then we cleaned ourselves up a bit before telling Jerry exactly what had happened. After that Jerry called up Matt and told him everything as well, I kind of wished I could have explained it to him, nonetheless everything still went alright.

I looked out back towards the woods for what I knew to be the last time and in the distance I could see someone standing, watching. Next to him was someone else, Mark and Joe, had to be. They didn’t move and I was beginning to think I was imagining it.

“Get in, no time to lose.” Matt said quickly, eager on us leaving “Jerry, thanks again.” He paused for a bit as a shot of worry crossed his face.

I turned to Matt for a second before turning back to the two people at the edge of the woods who now were gone, so I wasn’t imagining it then.

“What’s wrong Matt?” Jerry asked rubbing his shoulder.

“That.” He replied pointed to his right shoulder “You may have saved the boys but losing your arm isn’t something you want is it?” Matt didn’t sound too pleased.

“Its fine Matt, honestly I will be fine.” Jerry chuckled, waving it off as if it was nothing.

“No you won’t.” Matt said as if talking to a child as he walked up to Jerry before grabbing his shoulder. I was shocked, for a second I thought Matt had turned bad or something.

The wind started to randomly pick up which was strange because it was a beautiful Monday morning and the forecast was supposed to be clear skies, no wind, and really hot.

He was face to face with Jerry and I was near his car, I couldn’t quite make out his face since he was side on but I was almost sure his eyes had gone completely black. Jerry was motionless, as if in some kind of trance, he wasn’t moving and it almost seemed as if time stood still, Matt and Jerry were locked in time in this ball of wind surrounding them. Just seeing the two of them this still was like looking at a picture frame, just with a lot of wind and dirt flying around.

I guessed Chris noticed to since he was now staring at me with his mouth open, I shrugged and looked back at Matt just in time to see him take his hand off Jerry’s shoulder.

As soon as that happened the wind left back from where it came from and a smile appeared on both their faces.

“You didn’t need to.” Jerry said to Matt shaking his hand

“Least I could do.” Matt smiled

Chris and I exchanged a look of confusion as Matt walked back to us and got in the car. I had absolutely no idea what the heck had just happened and I was slightly freaked out, but then again I was a freak myself, and a proud freak I was.

“Now you boys be safe alright.” Jerry said as he looked at me with a smile I had not seen in a long time.

“Sure thing Jerry,” I smiled back at him “Say bye to Carla for me.”

“Will do Tilyer, will do.” He said as he waved to me. Carla was inside, she said she didn’t want to see me leave, said it would bring tears to her eyes, she worried a lot about me, especially after what happened to her son.
