The next morning we all got up and had a little meeting whilst we were having breakfast.
“So....” Joe said confused “He wants to kill us... all of us...”
“Yes, and he told me to tell you he was going to kill you” I said as I bite my apple, we would need to buy more once this was all over.
Joe gulped and sipped his coffee.
“Well, he’s a bear, how the fuck are we going to take him down?” Chris said annoyed.
“That’s the point... if we have a fair fight; we will lose, so I say... we cheat a bit.” I said trying to sound positive.
“Cheat how?” Zoe asked as she slowly ate her cereal.
“We could set up a trap, map out the whole fight and just lead him.” I replied
“Ok... so we need ideas” Ashley said “We could trip him over at some point, slow him down” she suggested as she took a bite out of her granola bar.
“We could make him fall onto something, something sharp” Joe said suddenly
“Like stakes” Zoe added “Hide them a bit and he could fall onto them and get hurt”
“Not bad” I had to admit it wasn’t a bad idea, with luck he would be more than just hurt
“Ok, what else could we use?” Chris asked
“The cliff...” I said slowly and “Where we had the picnic, if we could somehow push him off the edge we could get back to shore faster because we would expect it and then we could use the fact he was wet as an advantages, and lake water in his wounds may not help much”
“True but... messy, and won’t help too much, and it’s too dangerous, what if he drags you down underwater with him” Ashley said and I couldn’t argue with that.
“What about a ravine, or a creek?” Joe asked “Make him fall in that, like how Jack died”
“Why not” I said “If we can find a point wide enough, measure how far I can jump and hope Mark follows”
“If it’s too far he won’t follow, but if we can make him go over a smaller ravine, a less wide one, he will gain confidence and jump the next.” Chris suggested
“Ok, so we need to find two points in the ravine up by the north east to jump, then once he’s in, well then what?” Zoe said recapping what we had just said
“Then, I will have to jump down and fight him” I replied
“What if you get hurt?” Joe asked
“Then he wins...” I said slowly as I took another bite
“I won’t let him” Ashley said
“Me neither” Chris replied
“Whatever guys” I laughed “You guys want to link now? That way we can actually talk to each other as wolves”
“Sure” Zoe smiled, I was glad she agreed because it meant we could change subject.
We all went off and Shifted and then met up in the middle of camp. I turned to Ashley and smiled.
“I’ll link with all of them first, you can go after”
“Sure” she smiled back and waited.
I stood in front of Chris and focused on pushing my words to him.
“Can you hear me?” I asked
“Oh my god yes!” he replied excited and yelped a bit in joy
“Joe what about you” I said turning to Joe
“Whoa this is awesome” he smiled back as well
“Zoe?”
“Loud and clear” She said as she took a step forwards.
“Ok, Ashley’s turn” I said as I turned away and lay down. Ashley made the link with everyone and sat down beside me.
Chris and Zoe made the bond next and they then took it in turns to make the bond with Joe, Zoe took a tiny bit more time than Chris but it was still made. Then an idea came to mind.
“Chris” I said looking at him
“Yer?” he replied
“Zoe did you hear what I just said?” I turned to Zoe
“Yup, you said his name, he replied with yer” she said smiling
“So Joe and Ashley you both heard that?” I looked at Ashley who nodded
“Yer I heard that” Joe said
“So we can hear each other?” Zoe asked a bit confused
“I guess so... Maybe because we are all linked to each other, that’s why we can hear each other, and maybe the pack thing helps” Chris said as he smiled
“Probably” I laughed and stood up “Anyways, we should shift back, set the traps, find the right spot in the ravine and just prepare really.”
Everyone agreed and we went back to our cabins. Once changed Joe carried the ropes, Ashley and Zoe were in charge of finding good sticks, and then Chris and I had to sharpen them into stakes. We found a nice area in between two trees and tied the rope between the two; there was a lot of space so I'm sure he wouldn’t miss the two. Luckily, our rope was the same colour as the ground near enough so we didn’t need to paint it or cover it in mud. Chris and I placed a few stakes behind the rope so when Mark fell it would hopefully hit his chest. It seemed mean but then again he didn’t fight fair either, and it was Mark. The whole point of this was that if it hit his chest, he would either die, bleed out, or be weak enough to take on.
Once we had finished there we headed north to check out the ravine, and after a while we picked two points, and it meant that I didn’t even need to turn around because the ravine split into a ‘V’ shape at one point, so if I ran across that it should be fine. The second jump was further than the first and it looked reasonable, I just had to hope the first trap would mean he slipped.
Once that was all done we headed back to camp and just lazed around for a bit. We didn’t really have much else to do and I soon got bored of just waiting so I went off and started to prepare the camp fire with food and drinks. I wanted a family meal tonight, one last one before tomorrow.
